It is a knock-off of the Breville Barista. The company is actually GE Appliances.

It has mixed reviews though. https://www.cafeappliances.com/ap...7CESAS4RW3
To avoid problems with leaking, I would just refill the water tank in place and clean it on occasion, rather than removing it each time to refill it. Other people complain that the grinder stopped working after a few months. I would give it a shot if I were looking for an all-in-one semi-auto. If you do get a lemon and don't want to keep it, you have 45 days to return it, but the customer pays for return shipping (don't throw away any of the packing materials). It does come with a 2-year extended warranty for free though.

For the money, it's really impressive. The Cafe has an interesting feature. It uses an app called SmartHQ that allows you to control the volume, water temperature, and strength (I'm not sure how it does that). I could see being able to change the temperature and shot volume as handy. A huge 95 ounce water tank, low water indicator, PID temperature control, nice legit looking 58mm portafilter and tamper. It should come with four baskets, 2 pressurized, and 2 unpressurized, but I can't be sure. The owner's manual shows that it does. https://products-salsify.geapplia...26orug.pdf his is the parts page https://www.geapplianceparts.com/...SO_MACHINE Don't lose that portafilter. $195?

Also, it's not a discontinued model. It still sells for $579 on a lot of sites. At $149 there's nothing remotely comparable considering all it comes with and offers. It's an outstanding value IMO.

Note: There are 15 grind settings, not 5 as stated on BuyDig. Buy dig also has the weight of the machine as 14 lbs, it should say 24. After doing a deep dive into the specs of this machine, I think it's a great design. I wish I needed one. A lot of the complaints sound like bad luck, or user error in some cases.

Trust me, GE offensively markets their Cafe line with Wi-Fi/smartphone control but it's total garbage. You can't even use that to turn it on/off, the alerts don't work, it never notifies the need for scaling, and the volume/temperature/strength controls literally don't work. Simply put, it's fraudulent and their "engineers" blew it off completely.

Also, this model is effectively discontinued. Their current model (which is already somewhat "discontinued") was a grounds-up redesign and much better/more compact.

Same experience, such a disappointment. Heavily used, scratched. Not sure what exactly has been refurbished. Even amazon warehouse sales were better. Dang, and I jumped through hoops to "register" their extended warranty 🤦🏻 ♂️

Update - I was asked to dispose the unit.
They want a picture that I cut the cord. Will be sending that today since trash day is tomorrow.

Was contemplating whether to buy Walmart - noted it's sold by beach camera. Which is buydig too. Likely they are sending some good quality/looking ones thru Walmart as brand new.

I didn't like the experience so not planning to buy that either.

What was your message to the support team? I'd rather dispose mine as well instead of having a headache with returns

I just told them this is not even worth returning. They offer me partial refund before I said no thanks.

I got mine now too and sadly it's the same thing here - heavily used, scratches and dents, missing pieces, dirty unit, etc. The box had coffee grounds stuck to the tape holding the two pieces of Styrofoam together inside the box.
I plugged it in just to see if it even works and it flashes all 4 lights (overpressure) no matter what you do. I'll be contacting Buydig to return or cut the cord and drop it in the trash can as well. Unusable garbage that they're trying to resell as refurbished. There was NOTHING refurbished about it.

I don't know how these machines with same condition came in to them.
Prob some fully furnished condo units being renovated and they got hold of these machines that are auctioned in bulk. Nothing refurbished about them. They are barely cleaned.
Someone thought they can make a buck out of this. Tagging along with a 2yr warranty that will never work.

Makes me wonder is the the new America

But appreciate the customer service of buydig that was understanding.

Shoot, mine is in the mail and should be delivered in the next day or two. I'll update with my experience, I'm hopeful it's better than the other reports but not confident.

Same as others. Coffee grounds everywhere, missing or faded labels but the unit didnt have scratches. Buydig offered $85 discount or RMA. I cleaned it and tried it and it works so I might keep it rather than the hassle of packing everything up and returning it. Walmart deal is gone as well so not many options left.

They offered a full refund an didn't have to return the product, but dispose of it with a cut cord. At least they got something right.

I ordered this for my son who is in college. He was excited until he opened the box. I requested a refund and will wait and see. I just may have to spend bigger bucks and get a better unit.

It has been a few years, but I have purchased from Buydig and never had a problem. But this was blatant trash!

I got mine too, also dirty with most of the laser etching on the buttons mostly faded. No scratches (other than deep ones on the bottom of the tamper). I didn't even bother setting it up.

I was pretty pissed when I got it, so I hopped back on this thread, not surprised to see others experiencing the same bait and switch. I promptly sent them an email requesting a refund.

They got back to me same day and offered a $85 refund. I plugged everything in and it worked, so I am deciding to keep it. Shots actually taste pretty good.

I think this whole debacle could have been avoided if they listed this as "customer returned" or "grade d" rather than "factory refurbished". My expectation was this is clean, ready to use, which it was not.

TLDR - Product came dirty and looked heavily used, but worked. Requested refund. Got offered $85 to keep it. I took it, now becoming a $65 semi auto espresso maker.
