"Several studies suggest that blue light-blocking glasses do not improve symptoms of digital eye strain. The American Academy of Ophthalmology does not recommend blue light-blocking glasses because of the lack of scientific evidence that blue light is damaging to the eyes. "

Purpose of these exactly
first, they filter out blue light so everything seems brighter. It also makes things more defined.

They have a slight magnification so everything looks bigger. This is a reason some of my friends wear them even for pharmacy work where you read a lot of small text.

Of course, you wouldn't wear them if color accuracy is important (like if you're editing photos). They're designed for computer work/gaming (where you're near the screen). I think they do have a line for console gamers (where the TV is far away).

I have a couple models and they're nice. I don't go out of my way to grab them before using the computer but if they're in front of me, I do put them on.

Don't dismiss these so quickly. Whatever the reason, they significantly cut down on headaches for me during long stretches of staring at a screen (ie work/gaming)
They aren't magic and probably don't prevent damage, but if they improve your comfort, they could very well be worth it for you.

I ended up getting RX glasses (-0.25 in one eye; literally the lowest you can get) that transition to sunglasses to put on first thing in AM and it's the best decision I've made in a long time for comfort. Biggest impact is either the blue light blocking or off-amber color itself reduces headaches

For reading glasses, the price for this quality clarity is almost impossible to beat.
I use Autocad for work, and I have my computer font size and even the dpi on my Win7 system set up good, but with Autocad the text is still too tiny on many menus, and these glasses help, they also help with brightness.
I got a 2.5 pair for reading also, which they do well. Cheaper than the Foster Grants I have, and clearer lenses.
100% This. I have several pairs I bought last time there was a sale on them, at BestBuy I think. LOVE them for readers.

I got a pair of these as an impulse buy. My current job is staring at a screen all day and wanted to see if these would be helpful at all. My verdict is: not really. They just make the light warmer, arguably more pleasant, but they did nothing to help eye strain at all. I also have cheap reading glasses that I got from Amazon for like $25 for 4 pairs. Those also have blue blocking tints and help with reading (I'm getting older and text is getting blurry close up.) The cheapo Amazon readers are more comfortable and more useful, but only good for close up reading.

I bought 5 of lightening bolt onyx for my kids, and within a year, hinges for all the glasses were broken. I contacted Gunnar and they said parts are not available.

Do not buy them, or you'll regret.

I just got the 360s and they have definitely been helping me with eye strain.
I got LASIK recently and my eyes were getting fatigued a lot sooner than before.
These are helping me use the computer for longer periods of time.
They also help tremendously at night time when the eye strain is the worst for me.
I also like the lens swap option to switch between sunglasses and blue light blocking.

I don't really get the point of this. Even dismissing the lack of evidence regarding blue light and eyestrain like Foxtrot mentioned, there is still pretty much no reason to pick this up. You can easily set it up so that your devices reduce or eliminate blue light in their displays. There are settings and/or apps in Windows and Android, and I am almost certain there are ways to set it up on Apple devices. Like unless you are using this outside of their intended use outside or something, I don't get it.
If you work in a place with overhead flourescent lights, blocking the blue light from these things will be a big plus.
