Be aware that these are the base M1 models with binned 7-core GPUs, only 2 ports and no touchID on the keyboard. I'd personally recommend spending the extra &100 on the 8-core GPU model with 4 ports and touchID (as well as Ethernet on the power cable).

Amazing deal for an incredible screen, dead silent operation, and fast speeds all around for non-gamers (and even some games are starting to appear for MacOS!!).

The only question: If it's worth another $50 to get the (admittedly, orange only) model with touchID (easier logins and authentications), 1/8th more GPU grunt, 2 more USBC ports, and an ethernet port in the power supply (which is surprisingly convenient!)

The best 'deal' is probably open box M1 8 GPU-core (touchID) for $800, excellent condition. That would be worth getting…

To confirm, M1 is ARM processor? So can get away with 8gb, unlike on Intel.

On internal network, can you remote to this? Would like to sometime use or play with this from a Windows laptop while couch surfing. Or will the OS not have the feature?

In Windows, if its not Pro version, and Home, they limit features.

Using built in tools, Windows limits features, sure. But you can always add VNC to view whatever you want in whatever OS that you want. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vir..._Computing

There are plenty of other (some free) choices. TeamViewer is another common one.

Apple's tool of choice is Apple Remote Desktop, a paid app, which only runs on Mac, so wouldn't suit for your example. But VNC and TV both would work fine. ARD is essentially built on top of VNC (in addition to a thousand other features it has).

Note this is 'just' the 4.5k Retina screen, not the 27" 5K Retina screen. Smilie

I find the Apple Watch unlock to be too finicky. I often get the "wireless signal too weak to unlock" error, or if you're trying to unlock during downtime it of course won't work.

I'm a big fan of TouchID, even though I always wear my Apple Watch.

Yeah, because Apple never cuts corners. Remember the antenna issues they had with their I-Phone a while back (I think version 4)?
