In for one. Thank you for this, have been waiting for a sale to pull the trigger. According to camelcamelcamel this is the lowest price it's been on Amazon.
Just got my hands on the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds, and I'm impressed with the sound quality so far. The noise-canceling feature really helps me focus when I'm working from home.

Do not get these, they have the same battery issue like xm4 and/or will get a battery ruining update after warranty expires.
Sony is playing with fire with not recalling or even replacing them out of warranty.
Check reddit and YouTube for battery issues and how customer support is non existent and gaslights you for suggesting a problem.

Found a pair of these some student lost at my college I work at. I personally thought they sucked. I don't even use them. I'm not a fan boy but I only use my air pods. Absolutely superior to these Sony garbage ones.
Bit of a weird flex to admit to stealing and not returning them to lost and found but ok
These are pretty much the best sounding option out there right now. The XM4s sound better imo but aren't available new anymore and should be avoided because of their battery defects.
The Linkbuds S can be found for much cheaper and have 90% of the sound quality of these imo, with much more comfort.

No they aren't. I personally hate Sonys sound. They sound like AI music. I'm not even a bass person but these have absolutely no bass.
Bose quiet comfort II's or ultras both sound miles better with better noise cancellation as well. And the Bose are a lot more comfortable for extended in ear time.
Sonys have better connectivity and sound better with the voice on phone calls. There's no perfect earbuds out there right now but Bose clear the Sonys.
I haven't tried the Bose but the Sonys have plenty of bass. In fact the bass is the one reason I couldn't enjoy any other earbuds after XM4 or Linkbuds S. Everything else just muddies the sound if you turn up the bass but Sony's Clearbass EQ slider somehow doesn't do that. But like I said I haven't compared with the Bose.

Thanks! I got these for $279.99 and they're still return eligible, so I'm getting this deal instead.
These earbuds are great. The ear tips aren't very comfortable, so I got some 3rd party ones and they work better for me. I guess my ear canals are smaller than average and it is a challenge to get the earbuds to stay in place.
Other than that the noise cancelation is great. I can sit in a noisy room with adults chatting and kids playing and I don't hear them at all while listening to music.
These are also great for phone calls. I used to have a wind noise problem with cheap earbuds, but these ones do a great job capturing my voice and canceling wind.
They're not cheap, but have lots of cool features and, as mentioned above, work really well for me.

Personal opinion, while the sound pretty good, a bit better than my Linkbud S, they tend to fall out of the ears easily
