Have listened to The Sandman 1-3 and I have to say Gaiman is an excellent narrator. I'm going to have to look up the copy of Coraline I own, but haven't listened to yet, to see if he narrates it. If not, then I'd throw the $2 at audible for this

If you like the movie you'll like the book, and actually if you like the book you'll probably like the movie!

When this came out it was my favorite book of all time (I was young but it's still great) and I was so worried it'd ruin the movie but for once it didn't. They're different enough to both be great!
