When a bag is bigger, most people still fill it up. So with a bigger bag, they end up going WAY over the weight limit anyway.
And if you don't fill it...then you have a bag with empty space which causes your stuff to flop around all over the place instead of staying folded or secure.
I'm not saying THIS bag is too bag...but if it's a large bag and you want to fill it - it could easily go over 40 or 50 lbs.

Don't buy this bag!
Don't buy this bag!! Samsonite fails to mention this bag is one inch too big. A bag must be UNDER 63 inches to avoid fees and this one is exactly 63. Meaning you will have to pay a huge fee to check this bag. On top of that, the outer material scratches extremely easily. It scratched before I even had the chance to fly with it. You're better off buying a bag anywhere else.
Limit from Qatar Airways:
Maximum dimensions (length + width + height)
When flying to/from Africa or the Americas, the maximum dimension per bag should not exceed 158cm.
United airlines screenshot is attached. This fails most airlines standards from Americas.
