Amazon currently has the Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Signature Round Wide Dutch Oven, 6.75 qt., Shallot for $222.72:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMDJ4...gToDp&th=1

Ships and sold by Amazon. Excellent deal for a brand new from factory and not a "seconds". I have seen "seconds" for this model at discount stores for $199 but this is a brand new from factory so well worth the extra bucks. Also, probably the cheapest I have seen the Round Wide DO on sale online and CCC seems to corroborate that.

Note that this is the round wide model at 6.75qt and not the regular 5.5qt model.

Enjoy.

Just bought this exact size at a Le Creuset outlet for $7 more. So if you have one within a reasonable distance and would like a different color, it's worth looking into that as an option.

Do yourself a favor, save $200 and just get the Tramontina 7 Quart from Sam's Club for fifty bucks. My wife is a baker and uses hers all the time. Just last week she made the most beautiful and tasty sourdough loaf I've ever seen.

This is a classic. BUT many including my household may find the sloping version with clear glass lid more useful.

I have a round one in artichaut, beautiful color.
I have a rectangular baking dish in that color and absolutely love the hues of green. It actually made me go for this dutch oven in artichaut too.

I've been using L.C. for 30 years. The low wide round makes an excellent oven roaster and a personal favorite. Wipes clean after high temperature roasting. It's a great paella pan. Good for patiently browning large amounts of beef or chicken on medium low stove heat. . But buy the correct L.C. for your intended use. Not for stock or chili for example but great for sauteing large amounts of veggies.

As with all c.i. enamel 450F in the oven is fine but on the stove use medium low otherwise the enamel will scorch if not cooking liquids. C;I is highly efficient but does not spread heat well. For stove top it is best to match the base to the burner diameter on electric or induction. A gas burner better accommodates oversize, Not for searing; plain cast iron. I've posted this previously on sale for under $100 but prices have risen.

There is only one other manufacturer that makes a large low wide tmk. One major advantage to L.S. is that they have the technology to cast thinner and lighter sides. The enamel is much higher quality and backed by a lifetime free replacement warranty should the enamel pop or flake.

Sweet. Similar to the deal from December. I dwelled on it for a while and bought Staub in Jan via another SD deal. Both dutch ovens look amazing.

no. ours sits in the back of the cupboard. it's too heavy and harder to clean than our stainless steel pots and pans.once in a while, it comes out for the holidays to show off, otherwise nobody in my family likes using them.

Good luck trying to find a China oven in this diameter. The lid is very high quality. It doesn't warp and conserves just the right amount of moisture to intensify flavor. L,C. has more even heat to yield a better result on certain recipes, is much thinner as lighter and has superior enamel including a clear enameled rim which won't rust. It all depends on what you cook and how often.

You can get one of those cheap ones if it's exclusively for baking bread but cooking with it is a completely different experience.

tramontina does make food cookware though. I had a lodge dutch oven and then went to this.

VERY comparable, both excellent products with long history of excellent DOs and other enameled cast iron cookware. Many people have strong preferences but either work wonderfully, so from a function standpoint, it's pretty literally "six of one, half dozen of another".

This is certainly fair and possibly fairly common. But if what you are cooking does fine in stainless vs cast iron, for goodness sake, yes use the stainless steel. But a stainless steel DO and a decent to better quality cast iron DOs definitely don't cook the same way for many dishes,

I had high hopes for the Le Creuset Dutch Oven, but I must say I'm a bit underwhelmed. While it performs decently for cooking, I've noticed some chipping in the enamel coating after just a few uses. The shallot color is nice, but I expected better durability for the price. It's a good option if you're willing to baby it and take extra care
I've had LC for over 20 years and have not seen any chipping with mine, and I use them extensively -- five pieces at the moment, but only two date back 15+ years.

That said, my Staub performs the same, though I prefer the lighter colored interior of the LC because it's easier to see what's going on.

Fun fact: LC is twice as old as Staub (100 vs 50). I wanted to visit the LC factory, but they don't do factory tours anymore. Frown
