They love tossing in a single brushed tool in these kits so they can sprinkle the wored brushless all over the place. One single tool is brushless. They manage to mention it 6 times.
Thank you OP for posting this deal which led me to explore other tool deals. I was in the market to buy a reciprocating saw to cut some pipes. I was contemplating the Harbor Freight deal today with their Hercules saw, battery and charger for $99. But checking out your deal I found many Milwaukee products on sale today at Home Depot. I found M18 18V Lithium-Ion Cordless SAWZALL Reciprocating Saw with M18 Starter Kit (1) 5.0Ah Battery and Charger on sale for $149. With my military discount, $134.

Cutting metal with cutoff wheels, grinding metal with regular abrasive wheels or cup stones, removing rust/paint/etc with a wire wheel. Crazy dangerous tool though, use a face shield along with safety glasses, and avoid gloves around the rotating tool head.

Knocking this tool because it cant cut through 1/2" steel is pretty unreasonable.
an angle grinder should be able to cut through a half inch rod lol, that's not big that's common rebar. if that's big to you then you could get by with a dremel.

Whoops, you're right - wrote driver but meant wrench.

Yeah, the cordless is good for what you say, but I most DIYers probably never go to a scrap yard (or work on their cars). The only thing I have used mine for is to cut rebar (as you mentioned) and to cut off large protruding bolts (which I could have used bolt cutters and then filed the sharp edges off of the ends). As someone else said, if you can get away with using corded with angle grinders, that's the preferred method.

Also, someone else mentioned how dangerous they can be. Be aware that grinder wheels have an expiration date that should be closely followed. If not, they can break apart while using and become even more dangerous.

There are pics on the internet showing pieces from a cut off disk embedded in safety glasses.

Like any power tool, stay out of the line of fire.

I used them cut down metal roofing (galvanized steel) sheets, remove stuck crank arms on bikes, and on concrete to help remove spalling. Little jobs. Like a 12-16" chainsaw vs gas powered Stihl, these cordless ones have their place.

Honestly, one thing I actually use mine pretty consistently for is cutting screws to length. So as long as I have a screw on hand that is at least longer than what I need, you can clamp it in a vise and cut it to exactly the length you need. This obviously would be for blunt-tipped screws like machine screws. But very useful in my opinion. You do need to deburr it afterwards, sandpaper can work fairly well.

Use a face mask with respirator so you not only protect your face but dust or chemicals.

Is this legal? A whole shipment of Milwaukee tools is hold by customs because it's made in forced labor in China.

Did you get yours yet? I ordered the other day after seeing this post. Great deal being the 5.0XC is 159 alone yet 149 for saw and 5.0XC. I ordered two and just plan on selling the extra bare tool sawzall. Here's the thing...package came today and it's the batteries and chargers only. No saws. I need to find my orders and receipts and figure out what happened. Anyway, good luck and hope you got yours like you should have.

Don't do this. It's a hackable deal now! If you have enough batteries you can get the saw alone for about $75... same saw. Just add the 5ah with charger then the there should be some boxes rhat say shop this deal and the recip saw will be there. I think I got it to the cheapest by going to the saw which is 2621-20 then clicking the shop this deal and picking the most expensive item and checking out then I'll be returning that whatever it is again lol. I have to bring rhe Sawzall and 5ah kit along with me cuz I purchases that first too but have plenty of batteries. Its a good deal in a 5ah if the saw wasn't cheaper than $100.

edit: fyi it is the same and neither are rhe brushless. ones model number is listed as 2621-20-48-59-1850 cuz they have the charger added onto it. Just the saw is 2621-20

If you need batteries, 2-5AH plus charger (new) for $79 shipped. Only 12 on hand, not enough for a new thread.

Wish I saw this earlier but there are many still for 125-150 range. I may return my home Depot saws and bats and get this. I really only wanted the batts anyway
