I owned this stove. While I had it, it was good. It heated quickly and well. The oven worked without any issues and was accurate. However, I have a horror story in regards to this oven and GE:

At 6 months into owning this stove the top glass broke. I've kept the top clean and even pristine. It came with a small bottle of Weimem glass top stove cleaner, which I used and bought another bottle when it ran out.

It broke after I heated up some water to make noodles. No splash or splatter from the water or noodles touched the glass. There wasn't a mess to clean up, so I sat down to eat. Half way through I heard the glass crack. It was loud and cracked from the back to the front, completely.

I called GE to inquire about the warranty. They asked the usual questions, including if I left melted sugar to dry on it. I mentioned I cleaned it with the stove top cleaner *they included with the stove* and GE's representative informed me that it isn't a recommended cleaner and it voided my warranty. They would not replace the stove top.

A replacement for the stove top was $850. I paid $650 for the stove. It only lasted 6 months and couldn't be used with the full thickness crack from front to back. I would avoid GE glass top stoves.
Good price. But notice, this is a non-convection oven. Also, the bottom element is exposed (not hidden like on other models), so any spillovers will end up on it and burn.

This is your cheapest option by $100+ and you're getting a $750-850ish oven.

Ok, so basically a mainstream oven with the same first-world problems that 90% of ovens already have Smilie

Solid deal for a freestanding. I'm always jealous because we have to pay at least double for a slide-in or drop-in range. All of them should be like this, so much more modular and replaceable (only downside being reaching across a hot surface to adjust.

Thanks for sharing, that sounds really bizarre about the cleaner. Now I know how to answer if I'm in that position. About a month ago we bought a nicer version of this from Home Depot for $657 that has a warming burner, air fry & convect functions, and covered element on the bottom. Coming from a coil type we have mixed feelings on the glass. Pros and cons. I hope my experience is significantly better than yours.

What alternative are you even finding relevant here?

You make it sound like ovens aren't commonplace where you live.

GE appliances suck. I am currently remodeling the kitchen and happily getting rid of the fridge, stove and dishwasher which have all had major issues. Never buying GE again.

We've had two GE glass tops for over three years now. No problems yet. But I would be sideways if they tried to stiff us on a top cracking. I find it hard to believe that any cleaner should have any effect on the glass. Sounds like complete bad faith from GE. BTW, we've had four GE coil tops in various locations going back over 30 years. They've had the best ovens for decades for size and temp control. We avoided glass tops for many years and I'm still a little suspicious of them.
