At 6 months into owning this stove the top glass broke. I've kept the top clean and even pristine. It came with a small bottle of Weimem glass top stove cleaner, which I used and bought another bottle when it ran out.
It broke after I heated up some water to make noodles. No splash or splatter from the water or noodles touched the glass. There wasn't a mess to clean up, so I sat down to eat. Half way through I heard the glass crack. It was loud and cracked from the back to the front, completely.
I called GE to inquire about the warranty. They asked the usual questions, including if I left melted sugar to dry on it. I mentioned I cleaned it with the stove top cleaner *they included with the stove* and GE's representative informed me that it isn't a recommended cleaner and it voided my warranty. They would not replace the stove top.
A replacement for the stove top was $850. I paid $650 for the stove. It only lasted 6 months and couldn't be used with the full thickness crack from front to back. I would avoid GE glass top stoves.

We use the air fryer 10 times more than the oven, very rarely use the oven now. We even use the air fryer more than our microwave. You can cook everything from frozen food to reheating fries that you would otherwise throw away, the air fryer has been fantastic. I'd give that a try while you save up.
While I had looked at glass top ovens before, I think I will be staying away from them. I've had heating elements go bad before, but they are cheap and easy to replace.

I picked one up this weekend for less than $5.
There were 9 in stock when I last checked the tri county area. Good luck.
Search of the model you are referring to is showing over $1,000 at both HD and Lowes. Do you have a link for the JGB735SPSS at less than $600??
The deals are in store only since this a discontinued model. All the links show online pricing $1000+ but in store they are $599 and below. Again, YMMV and I believe they are all display clearances. I picked mine up for $450.
it does bring stuff to a boil quickly, but mine after a year of use i avoid using this one for boiling anything.... the issue comes down to when it gets hot even if i lower it for whatever reason it keeps going at same intervals/keeps running the heating element, the only way to fix it is by turning the burner completely off and then on...
essentially the powerboiler element likes to try and cause pasta to boil over the pot regardless of size of pot i use (normally my largest which is just a tiny bit smaller than my stock pot for canning)
the other burners no issues
Same.
