Make no mistake, SA shoes were the 'hood style of choice (not so much quality) back in the 80s and early 90s. They are poor quality now and will start to unravel months into ownership. Buyer beware.
I wouldn't buy them. Good quality? For $40 I guess you get $40 worth of shoe but if you are looking for a buy once shoe you can buy Thursday boots or Beckett Simonon as an entry shoe ($200) or if you want higher quality you can get Cobbler Union, or Allen Edmonds ($300-$400). Carmina is even higher quality but the price is also higher ($550).
I just came to say Snoop Dogg wrote a song called "Stacy Adams" and that's the first thing I think about whenever I see this brand.
Which I think might have been a song about a pimp taking off his shoe & hitting a woman with it....pretty amazing what you can get away with if you're likable enough.

Price doesn't always equate to quality unless you are a sucker

You can usually get Kenneth Cole or Johnston Murphy shoes for not much more money. I got myself a pair of Kenneth Cole Futurepod wingtip shoes at Ross for $25 and the leather seems to be of decent quality. A lot of Stacy Adams and Nunn Bush shoes they now sell at JC Penney, Macy's and Kohl's are just made with synthetic leather. So if these wingtip shoes say "leather" at the very least are corrected grain shoes.

This. Stacey Adams is very bad quality quality peacocking shoes. Ok for one time use but terrible if you're expecting them to be comfortable or hold up after a few uses. No idea how Nordstrom is carrying this brand

I've had many Stacey Adams shoes throughout the years with zero issues. They also make non peacock shoes. None of my shoes were terrible or of poor quality or one time use. All of them were leather uppers, and I still have 5 pairs today.
The short answer is that they're okay. At this sale price you're probably getting slightly more than you pay for. If you're willing to drop money though Allen Edmonds are basically the way to go. (I personally advise against Beckett Simonon. I got boots from them and HATE them. But didn't realize the fit was awful until I'd worn them a few times.)
