My assumption is that miracle gro licenses this out to different manufacturers regionally (I doubt they're shipping dirt cross country). If you're in the northeast, open a bag or two before you buy an entire pallet.

my ideal mix is 37%peat 38%compost 25%clay/topsoil. add 10pct perlite for cool factor.
I was able to order online at Lowes. HD was in store purchase only. Not that big of a deal as they had plenty in stock but did want to point out the difference.
Is anyone here familiar how this product may compare? → https://slickdeals.net/f/17437725-select-lowe-s-stores-1-cu-ft-sta-green-in-ground-vegetable-flower-garden-soil-2-free-store-pickup?src=Site

Mixed them with a bit of compost/manure mix + small bag of perlite.
Took a few scoops and ran it through my DIY sifter (used the mulchy bits for coverage on a few potted things)
Pretty happy with it overall.
Yes as a filler on the base. I'd add better quality on top of it. This will eventually decomposed in couple of years (mulch leaf etc )
I say this to say I've bought the miracle grow a few years ago and I've gotten bags that were definitely more broken down, but they were kinda like top soil and needed to be amended. I've also had some that were kinda like the sta-green bags I just got. Guess it's luck of the draw what's being offered. I'm in Milwaukee if that matters to you.
I've seen this too.
Opened a couple bags Sunday of the sta green and they were infested with large nasty grubs . There was well over 30 in one bag.
Lord only knows where they import the garbage from to make this stuff now that everyone trying to save money and eat healthier..
