Someone will end up commenting about aluminum-free deodorant only vs this antiperspirant/ deodorant.
If anyone is interested in aluminum-free product, Amazon has 6-pack of Degree aluminum-free 48 hr deodorant for $17.04 after 5% S&S discount. That translates to $1.00/oz, slightly above the $0.89/oz in OP's deal here. Seems
like regular price for the aluminum-free product, no special sale right now.
I recently tried some aluminum free Speed Stick. Evidentially aluminum is what makes antiperspirant actually work...stuff was useless by the end of the day.
Much like the beliefs of anti-aspartame people, there are no links between aluminum and bad health effects. So, GIVE ME ALL THE ALUMINUM (note: the aluminum in antiperspirants are aluminum salt, not tiny bits of foil like many people believe).
You are correct. Aluminum tends to be what makes a product an antiperspirant - I'm sure there are other differences too but in general, aluminum-free products will be deodorants while antiperspirants will have aluminum.
I'm guessing the aluminum free Speed Stick you used never claimed to be antiperspirant, it's just purely a deodorant. Different intended function.
Here's an article explaining the differences between antiperspirants and deodorants, including how they actually work, if you or anyone else is interested: https://www.healthline.com/health...-deodorant
As far as health effects - seems unclear to me. As stated in the article above, there are no scientifically proven links between aluminum in antiperspirants and any bad health effects for healthy people. But they're still looking into possible links to memory disorders and there are known problems for anyone with severe kidney disease.
Personally I stopped using antiperspirants years ago for more pragmatic reasons: they were staining the armpits of my shirts, causing painful skin rashes where applied, and clogging my pores leading to little lumps forming that took a while to clear up. Switching to pure deodorants eliminated all of that. Worth it for me. I find if I shower regularly then pure deodorants are just fine for me. Won't hold up to heavy sweat from intense physical activity, but I personally think it's pretty reasonable to sweat and maybe smell a bit if playing sports or something like that! Just shower after.
