I'm in China right now looking for a new Xiaomi or OnePlus. The exact same phone is not selling for $190 as you claim.
Not true. The 12R on JD.com in China sells far more than $190. The OnePlus ACE 3 which is nearly identical sells for 2000y or more which is $275 except it doesn't support all the 5G bands that the 12R does. It might not work well with most US Telco companies. I'm currently in Shanghai and you probably would have to get a third party to ship something on JD.com increasing the costs even more. Not worth it in my opinion.

I heard that OnePlus got many trade in issues, cause I have a oneplus 8 needs trade in, I just worried.
This gets 3 years of OS and 4 years security updates.
The OnePlus 12 gets an extra year on both - 4/5 years.
Samsung and Google generally don't do this.
The Pixel 7a and 7 both have 5 year update commitments. As does the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23FE, and even the A54.
Although, with the Pixel 8a, S24FE, and A35 yet to be released, they still might - but there is no indication that they will. The 8a will probably get seven years, and the galaxies 5.
I keep my phones a long time, generally until the security updates run out.
I like to pay nearly half price of a flagship phone from the Big Three phone makers and buy a One Plus phone that performs just as good or better. Then I get to use the One Plus with the latest technology 2 or 3 years and then repeat and buy the next new One Plus phone with the newest technology every 2 or 3 years.
Technology is changing so fast now that a phone 5 years old is really outdated and by 7 years just about junk status IMO. I have a 10 year old Samsung and it still has some high quality features but the cheapest new phones on the market now have way better technology and features.
I am probably the most frugal..cough cough..cheapest old guy on here but keeping a phone for the next 7 years is just not an option that interests me. 3 years of updates is fine on the One Plus as long as they keep prices down, technology the newest and give the best bang for the buck.
The phones you mention are great but the mindset behind One Plus is more to my liking. To each their own and enjoy your phone for the next 7 years. The One Plus 13 is coming out with the Snapdragon Gen 4 chip and if it is enough of a game changer, maybe 1 year of OS updates is all the OP12 needed.
