I don't think most people have problems playing one song. Sonos subs are filled with these comments and turns out to be network related. It's not only about the router there can also be interference in your building or other reasons.
Trust me if people could not play one song on these speakers they wouldn't sell and everyone would bash them

ALL of the state or just Seattle? I'm on the east side of the state

I've got wirelessly attached Sonos/ikea speakers and a HomePod mini all over my house. I've just never had issues like some people experience.
Two ubiquiti ac-lites wired to the switch (no mesh).
No problems with AirPlay to any of them or multiples of them at the same (all AirPlay 2).
Arc costs $899 i believe and then you will get the sub and the surrounds which will put you around 2000$ mark. HomePods pair work perfectly fine.
They've been as low as $500 in the past year new, and several times recertified. I paid $500 myself. You don't need the sub or surrounds and that's not an a/b comparison with this solution either. I was specifically addressing OP's comment about a sub $1000 soundbar, which is untrue.
Will these work "fine"? Depends on your definition of fine. If you're ok with dialogue not coming from the visual source of content - I am not fine with that.
Again, I own/use both (homepod pair is on a basement TV now), and to me it's a night/day difference.

Even the certified arc has not been sub $500 lately. I have both the setup as well. I have arc, sub, two eras 100 as rears. But for normal living room setup HomePods work fine and are better as compared to tv sound only.
You aren't negating anything I said.
And again, I was addressing OP's sub-1k comment.
I didn't say homepods aren't an option, just that an arc is a superior option as far as sub-1k soundbars (per OP).
Have a pleasant day.

When I tried that with the latest gen of ones, half the time they wouldn't connect to each other when I woke up the apple tv. Is that what you experienced?
The Sonos Ones worked but you had to reconnect them often. No such issue with HomePods. HomePods work and sound better with Apple TV. I sold my Sonos gear and we're now all in on HomePods for the house. Just sharing my experience
But apples whole HomeKit AirPlay ecosystem is beyond trash. It's gotten worse rather than better. It's frankly insane given their position and wealthy
I've had two sets of stereo HomePods and for the last year, despite different WiFi access points and routers, I can't get through a single song without them cutting out. A single HomePod usually works fine.
I finally disconnected them and switched to Klipsch Fives in my office and Nines in the living room. These can be had for $450 (Fives) and $1k (Nines) if you shop around - that's the pair, not each
I used to dream of filling my homes with $199 HomePods and now that it's here.... it's a huge no thanks
You do you tho
I have the same set up -Klipsch fives and the nines —both sound great and honestly the stereo instead of surround/atmos is good-surround is distracting with anything other than certain movies, for me anyway.

IMO you haven't disproven OPs comment at all. Two HomePods sound better than just the Arc by itself, so even if you get the Arc recertified for $500 (rare), you will have to pair it with the Arc Sub, at the very least, which pretty much takes you to that $1000 mark that OP mentioned, and this is assuming you find both recertified for $1000 total.
Arc retails for $899.00 and Sub for $799.00, so technically it is $1698.00 + tax, unless you can find it on a deep discount.
Not sure if you've actually heard two HomePods versus an Arc by itself, in the same exact scenario, but I have, and the HomePods definitely sound better (to me).
Arc + Sub definitely overtakes the HomePods, but at 2-4x the cost.
I am not sure $200 is quite worth it for these. (to me)
I'll likely sit on the fence a bit more to see if they drop any further.
Apple states that you should be able to use Siri to pull you YTM. That is TRUE....BUUUUUT Siri is very sporadic. Asking for classical MAY get you classical or it may get you a random ass playlist. Same with smooth jazz or even white noise.
Spotify? You can only CAST to spotify via airplay - no Siri interaction. Plus if you are casting it means the audio from your device is obviously being casted as well. So if I wake up and wanna start a podcast such podcast will cast to the HomePod speakers. Blank!!!
This would all be solved if HomePods just allowed bluetooth or if Siri was useful. I understand the latter as there's no responsibility for Apple to know how to utilize YTM or Spotify, but dang.
For those who will use this to pair to your Apple TV....it's wonderful for small rooms. I'd imagine the atmos sound would be great for this new version.
For those who actually need to be able to use speakers as intended, nah. Can't recommend. You truly gotta be in the apple ecosystem to enjoy and again, my wife ain't using AM and I'm not going to pay $10/m for an individual license to it.
