Eh. Not as good as the $400 sale it was on 1-2 months ago.
I got one of these to replace a 27" 1440p ips 144hz gsync 2018 monitor for $450 and I think it's great for around that price. The HDR is incredible in games that make native use of it, Cyberpunk really pops during play in ways that I didn't expect, and autoHDR is pretty cool as well. I couldn't pass it up with the 27-32", 1440p-2160p resolution, edge lit-1196 zone FALD backlight, 1050:1-19,138:1 contrast ratio, and 109ppi-130ppi dot pitch for text clarity upgrades for the money. I drive it with my RTX 3070, which does pretty well all things considered.

The biggest drawbacks in my opinion are the viewing angle color shift and the reflection handling, but weighed against the other benefits, I'm totally satisfied. If this monitor was not curved, it would be worse on its viewing angles, so I'd call it necessary, but I wish that it's vertical color shift was less noticeable on the desktop because it's so large that I can see the difference from my midpoint to the top and bottom, and the glossy coating can add to that a little bit.

I leave the monitor in auto HDR mode most of the time and I can tell when it's doing its thing on explorer windows and stuff, but its still totally usable in that mode. You can turn it off in around 5 seconds in the OSD menu. Oh yeah, and the stand is bafflingly wobbly when jarred or using the menu. Anyway, for the money I don't think this can be beat and it gives me the HDR quality I want for my gaming into the future as these various panel technologies advance. Ask me anything.

note: I have not seen any sign of flickering as others are mentioning in this thread. none.

I'm holding off for this exact reason. I've never been completely happy with a Samsung monitor or TV.
Agreed. I have an Odyssey G5 and I've gotten some serious ghosting in certain games.
I put up with it because I got for only $100, but I'm always on the lookout for something better.

Deal is dead. If it wasn't OOS yesterday I likely would have grabbed one. Back up to $1299
Deal is NOT dead. You have to have the EDU discount in order to get it for that price.

I bought it last time around. I don't recommend it for productivity though. It replace an HP IPS U28 4k and honestly it was not worth the upgrade. It looks much better in movies and games but overall picture quality and especially for coding and writing I preferred the HP.

For anyone having flickering issues, usually you have to use CRU aka custom resolution utility to adjust the lower end of freesync to a higher number to avoid any flickering issues, this can be applied to any monitor.

I have this monitor and I can't stand it. I cannot get the colors right. Playing games the blacks are too dark. I will never buy another Samsung again. Read the negative reviews they are 100% correct. There is a reason this monitor has been discounted so heavily. I wish I hadn't bought it.

The Dell deal on the 27" monitor for $200 a few weeks ago produces a better picture out of the box than this one.

VA is prone to ghosting, but samsung panels do best for that compared to other brands. If you check out the review from Rtings on this one, you'll see that response times change based on which settings you are using. I have it in its slowest mode with HDR and Adaptive sync, and it does make motion trails more visible, bit it's not bad and I wouldn't refer to it as ghosting (usually I think of that term being for big long trails). Anyway, check your monitors' review and see if there are other modes that reduce response times.

I'm very pleased with it.
