The year is 2024. Skechers aren't a cheap bargain brand like they were 15-20 years ago. They are very high-quality and the most comfortable shoe you can buy. That's all I ever buy anymore. These are also the go walk 6. Go to their website. Their top shoes are $100 plus. $45 for these is a bargain and well worth it. I'm on my second pair because I liked them so much.
The orange foam "pillars" are made of high-end packing foam like you would find in a GPU or something. There's lot of reviews of them falling off, wearing down quickly, and generally being of poor quality. They also felt bad walking on. It felt like the center of the sole was hollow (because it is).
You may not be able to slip your food into it because the upper arch area is just fabric and there isn't much holding it up. It just folds over too easily, so you will have to bend over and pull the loop. That's why the loop is there. There is NO sidewall or support holding the whole thing up. It's just molded fabric.
Mine ran about a half size too large. They are designed to stretch too, so I would suggest going a half size down.
They look cool but durability is poor, even for a foam pair of Skechers. They are basically an indoor and pavement-only shoe.
I have multiple other pairs of slip on Skechers. I wanted these to work out because they looked really nice, especially the color I got, but they just had so many design problems with those dumb foam pillar things.
