Not a terrible deal for a 4070 laptop, but keep in mind that the RAM is soldered and if you want 32gb Dell forces you into the i9 4080 version of this laptop.

Great deal. Have been looking for a gaming laptop for months and this seems to be the best I've seen under $1500 so far. Soldered ram but it seems easy enough to add a second SSD at least for more storage.

Great price, if only the screen chin was smaller and the whole laptop lighter, I'd be all over it.

What does this laptop provide that the G16 laptop doesn't have at $1,099? I am buying my son a computer for college and comparing the G16 vs this laptop.

The specs appear to be the same. I understand that the Alienware does a better job cooling?

The X16 will be lighter and with better build quality. Much premium feel.

Also, 4070 vs 4060 (15% improvement)

Much better ram 6000mhz vs 4800mhz

The CPU are similar performance wise.

Thanks for the reply. I am wanting to buy a computer that we last him for his 4-5 years of college. He will primarily be using it for school work and light gaming. It doesn't seem that the X16 would be worth the $250 premium for those uses.

Soldered RAM is actively anti-consumer and should be universally outlawed.

If you're looking for something to last that long for him, I'd definitely recommend something with a better and more tough build PLUS whatever the best warranty/service that you can pay for.

A lot of personal preference, but I asked a similar question recently and a lot of people prefer the Lenovo machines for toughness/service. If you're a Costco member, I'd also recommend checking out what they have there since he'll have a longer window to try it out and see if it works for him (90 day return policy).
