Walmart just reduced Iphone 12 BLACK 64GB to $2.75 per month for 36 months.

You will be billed $2.75 per month for 36 months so you can pay $99 after 14 days and get your line free again.
New and existing customer will be charged $35 activation fees.
Existing customer total - $99+ TAx + $35 upgrade feee
New customer can try paying off the phone at corporate store with in 14 days or via customer service and can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation fees. huge YMMV thought.
So worst case scenario for new line - $99 + $35 activation + 14 days bill (as you can cancel as soon as you pay it off after 14 days and cancel the line )

I think I didn't ask my question correctly. If I am going for AT&T phone itself instead of Verizon in store(looks like they have in stock in store), can I pay it off next day like we did for Verizon.
After payoff and unlock, what's needed to be done? Did you still have to set up a Verizon account (or otherwise how would you receive the bill later)?

Correct. You need to go to the store and pay in cash, exactly $99. That's what I did and a number of other folks here as well. It also has to be done at a corporate Verizon store, not an authorized dealer.

Why cancel a month later? Cancel now. Yes it will still unlock.

However, my iPhone 12 is failing to activate. I have tried multiple times. SIM lock status says "2387 - US Verizon Locked Policy" which is the same for my iPhone 11 from last year, which I have not been able to unlock even after repeated tries.
Anyone else facing this issue? Are your Verizon sims activating fine?

Happens to me often when I purchase older generation iPhones through Walmart. If you call Apple they'll have you provide some order info (usually your order email and probably have you manually add the serial number of your phone since it won't be in the order). Then they'll update the warranty to one year from purchase - this also makes it eligible for Apple Care +.
