Build quality is self explanatory.
The aquaclears use filter media baskets instead of cartridges which you can fill with your own media (or combos of media). I run a coarse sponge, polyfill, and bio media in mine, for example. This not only does a better job, but is extremely cheaper than cartridges. You can mod a catridge hang on back to do the same thing, but you still have a cheaper pump to worry about.
Noise is also self explanatory.
Overall, aquaclear is the winner hands down. I would highly recommend getting one. But at this price point? This is still a solid deal.

But another question, I have a small tank that I'm going to be using, 10 to 15 gallon, is it a bad idea to get a bigger filter in case I end up upgrading my tank to a larger size in the future?
Is there any downside to that? Thanks!
edit: for reference, I'm looking at this.

You could absolutely use that in a smaller tank for now if youd like, it has an adjustable flow knob on the top, you can greatly slow down the suction/waterfall for a smaller tank.
I also highly recommend getting a coarse sponge to go over the intake, not only does it prevent fish from getting trapped (or my cherry shrimp) but it also provides another form of filtration. I clean the sponge every other week and the filter media once a month.

Thanks again sir. Do you happen to have a link for an intake sponge? 🙏
Pretty much any you find on Amazon under "intake sponges" will work, alternatively buy one of the aquaclear sponges designed for that filter and cut a hole in the center of it.
A sponge should last about 6 months worth of cleaning before it falls apart enough to need replacement. On a small tank like you'd like to do, you can go longer.

Yes they are more expensive but will last you much longer in between cleanings and replacement media. Back in the day, I used to have a 120 and 75 gallon tank using a Fluval canister and my cichlids were so happy. I also used a Eheim Jager 300w aquarium heater and they started to breed, it was so fun.
Temporarily out of stock.
We are working hard to be back in stock as soon as possible.
All my AquaClears have broken these bad boys keep tracking
