I'll never understand why people will pay for this. It's a 3 year old model and a refurb at that. The Apple community needs to stop promoting these ridiculous prices that Apple sets
Yeah, I understand the new iPhone 12s at 99$ and 160$ getting promoted, but 12 pro which is mostly the same as the 12, being 350$ AND refurbished makes no sense to buy

I wouldn't buy an old regular-sized or Pro iPhone, but I want a Mini, and that's only available in 12 and 13, so a refurb is the only option I have. Plus you get a much better return window than the measly 14 days Apple give you.

how important is return policy for someone unless they want to just use and return at the end of the period?

Unsure about the 90 days Amazon grant you, but defects can take a month to start showing up. If that happens, you can get a replacement or return altogether instead of dealing with RMA.

Apple shines at this, well atleast the last time I had to use warranty. they sent a prepaid label for RMA and they shipped the replacement unit same/next day and I had a replacement unit with me less than 7 days I chatted with CS support for issue.

Could you continue using the defect unit until you received the replacement? Did you purchase Apple Care?

I apologize but you seem to have a really bad luck with these products that you have to lean on return policy. My experience have been different that I rarely have to return/repair these gadgets.

iPhones hold their value. Even an 11 non-pro is still a decent device. However, I do agree that this is a bit more than I'd like to pay for this as a non Apple refurb. You also have to consider that this phone will probably only get iOS 18 this fall and 19 next (so 2.5 years of support). An apple refurb is eligible for Apple care also.
I'd probably just get a new standard 12 on some promo (Verizon/MetroPcs?) and not worry about the pro camera.
