We just got back from this exact same trip, same carrier, same airports. It was a nightmare. I will never fly with them again.

On top of cancelling our return flight and rebooking us out 1 day (a change which cost us $1k in hotel/food/lost work) Iberia/Level changed our seats 4x before we left and each time tried to charge us for the "selection" of the new seat. Each round prompted calls to their 800 number for fear of us losing our seat selections (we have a 4 year old and needed to be sure we could sit next to her).

Along the way the priority boarding that we tacked on when we originally booked and our meal purchase was lost and no-one was ever able to fix our reservations and then boarding pass.

The seats were brutally uncomfortable but I'm 6' and 275lbs and the flight out had no in flight entertainment or wifi.
We took this route a year or so ago... Level was fine. They do charge for food on many of their fares, so plan ahead. Check-in at JFK is fine. There is a separate area for Level, but if Iberia isn't busy, they do re-route some of the passengers to that line. Check-in in Barcelona was quick.

We happened to book it using Avios through Iberia and those fares included check bags and food. You can order your food ahead through the app or website and it was actually reasonably decent.

Barcelona is a great city, but can be overrun with tourists during prime tourist season. We had a few well spent days there and then headed out to a number of smaller towns. Spain in general tends to be cheaper than much of the rest of western Europe. Great trip overall.
according to the website: "All our fares include one carry-on item and one personal item that must fit under the seat in front of you." It is far more than enough, better than Spirit and Frontier. I would say one carry-on item and one personal item is good for a 7-day trip.

This is a pretty good deal but for a slightly more you can book about any date. Just go to Level and search for dates, then click Monthly Calendar fares. Beware that the baggage fees and such are what you would expect for a LCC.

yep. i never have checked bags. in terms of clothing, what you "think" you need, you'll only use half of it. just wear your heavy coat on the plane and use it as a blanket.

Heads up on Level: We flew return March 30 - April 4 to BCN. We got to BCN airport to return home and they had cancelled the flight and claimed they moved us to the April 2 flight (literally the day after we landed). They did not refund us or get us on another flight home.

Moral of the story:
Watch the (many many) emails they send like a hawk, and pay very close attention to the dates in them. We went back and found the notification that had the exact same time but date moved.

I flew with LEVEL last year that same route, it was pretty decent and on time. If you want to add food or seat selection it costs around 70 more per person, but if you're okay with the LIGHT category with no meal and no seat selection, it's fine just the same. The planes are comfortable and fairly new. I appreciate this post because I just bought my trip for November (thanksgiving).
