Here's a trick I learned. When you are screwing it back together, rotate backwards first slowly. Once you feel the screw 'drop', then you know you are aligned back in the original threads. Then screw it back in. Works everytime without any extra damage to the threads,

Good advice, It's amazing how some people have so much trouble with the simplest tasks. There is nothing wrong with longevity because the screws, just don't be dumb when taking it apart.

If you have a MicroCenter nearby, use their $25 off $100 purchase coupon to buy $100 Steam Wallet gift cards for $75, then use them to buy the Deck. Basically knocks off an additional 25%, making it even slicker.
Where do you get the coupon? I've been using MC for years and never heard of it! This is definitely the cheapest route!!!

Thanks. Can you use more than a single gift card at Steam Store to buy the Deck? Is there a limit on number of gift cards we could use?

You add Steam GCs to your Steam account aka your Steam Wallet, then use that to purchase games, S Deck, etc. I think the max amount you can carry in your Steam Wallet is $2000.

Not familiar with the Steam Deck. Will the SD run the Xbox App to allow playing of Xbox games including Game Pass games?

I'm astonished at just how much of an upgrade the OLED was for me. My old SD gathered dust so I sold it for cheap.

The OLED is a miraculous product. It's become my primary Helldivers 2 machine - I don't play on anything else.
I don't have any version of the Steamdeck - but I can confirm that the Switch OLED vs regular is a similar experience. The OLED is truly a game changer, and light years ahead of the regular screen. Even though this post is a really nice deal, I think personally I'll have to wait because I just know I'm going to end up with the OLED sooner than later.

Beyond the cloud gaming, though, can the SD play actual Xbox games that need to be downloaded?

$89 for 1TB? When I got my steam deck originally they were $200+ or you had to buy a Samsung and cut it down. Hardly anyone even made 2230 NVMe
and in 2023 you could buy a 1tb for $46.... that's my point
