Good deal. This receiver has Dirac Live built in. Compared with its little brother RZ50, it has Auro 3D and two independent subs as well as two more powered connections. Got an open box for $2200 a weeks ago.

Do you know if the rz70 is capable of dirac live bass if you buy it separately? I know the lx505 and pretty sure the rz50 don't have an option for dirac live bass.

Actually this has 4 sub outs, only 2 are independent other two run parallel.
They also added preamp mode, it's only L/R OR all channels.
On the other hand, many people believe Dirac Live includes their sub bass management for one sub. So they often believe DLBC has very little benefit if any especially for the price.
The RZ50 can process 11 channels also.
If that's the case this doesn't offer much for the extra $1k price especially since so many people rave about the RZ50.

Show me the source for 4 subs? I only see 2 in the back panel.
Here is the very helpful video with using Dirac Live that was added to the other Onkyo deal.
AA worked directly with Dirac on these great tip & tricks.

Doesn't the rz50 require a separate preamp to get to 11.2 whereas the rz70 has it native.
Looks like once you go from 9 to 11 internal amps, price jumps on avrs double
Several 9 channel amps offering 11 channel processing can be had under a grand. 11 channel amps with 13 channel processing jumps to 2 grand and I am talking sale prices

Must be the scales of economies at work
Keep in mind someone looking at using 11 channels and wanting the capability of 13 is asking for a lot of versatility from their receiver.
They usually don't have the belief only the LCRs matter also.

Sorry keep forgetting they didn't follow Pio with the 805.
You are correct they do only have 2 sub outs, my mistake.

The two things that obviously stick out.
This powers all 11 channels internally and includes Dirac Live RC, with the option for their Dirac Live Bass Control RCs.

Yes that's the benefit, if you do need(or will need) 11 channels the RZ50 is much cheaper to have it.
