  • From the product page:
    • This is a great all-mesh street jacket good for riding in the hottest summer months. Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows and armor can be added for the back and chest.
    • For most people, you'll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I really love me a motorcycle gear , and really ought to get a new summer jacket , but would not buy unless it's available as hi-viz color.

Awesome! Any boots that would go well? Something that would help prevent a crushed ankle.

I think the original back protector in my Scorpion jacket was just a sheet of EVA foam. If I had no back protector and little money, I would order EVA foam from "The Foam Factory" and cut it to fit.

My Aerostich back protector was just a sheet of some kind of closed-cell foam (feels like neoprene sponge) with a sheet of what feels like Lexan (polycarbonate) over it. Not even stuck together, both were just slid into the back protector sleeve. It actually worked amazingly well and protected my back when I landed on the hood of a San Francisco taxi.

Anything is better than nothing, and an awful lot of the techno-looking name-brand stuff isn't really that well designed or effective.

I have the Rev'It Eclipse, awesome summer jacket. I think it's a step down from this jacket. It runs small. For the back protector I transferred an Icon D3O back protector from another jacket and it fits fine.

Sadly they're sold out of Black on Black in Large and Extra Large, which is what I'd take. Too bad. The other colors aren't so bad but there's a very obvious "REV'IT!" branding on the lower back on those colors (it's there but hard to see on black), which takes away from the jacket's appearance.

That was the one I was going to buy. Ended up with Silver/Black. I agree the branding is non-aesthetic. But my current leathers have me dripping sweat in the hotter months, so worth a try at $150.

You should only buy standalone back protector, never an insert. Like the pros.

I have an AlpineStar back protector that I'm hoping will fit ideally inside, if not outside the jacket. Only problem there is when riding with a passenger, as I usually let the passenger use that, as it is far more adaptable size-wise than other gear.

I'll figure something out when it arrives. If the Rev'It branded back armor wasn't $65 and wasn't annoyingly sized 1-6 versus the jacket S/M/L/XL sizing, I would have just impulse bought that. But since this isn't my primary gear, and I haven't even tried it on, I think I'll wait.

But worse case, I'll probably still cut a pad. Probably not the best solution, but any protection is better than no protection.

Better option (IMO), which has the elbow armor and back armor already as well as much cheaper, is the HWK line of jackets on amazon. I was wearing it when I was run over on the interstate by an idoit in a truck going 70 when traffic came to a stop.
I also had their armored pants on.
Both helped im sure, but I gotta thank God on this one. Only one bone broke in that crash that should have killed me. Good thing I had my camera running too. As they say, camera man never dies.

I order stuff from Europe pretty regularly. Moto gear is way cheaper there for some reason. Shipping prices suck, but you can save a lot when buy several things at the same time.

I have bought a bunch of stuff from FC Moto and they're great. The only issue is that you really need to make sure you know your correct size. Returning stuff to Europe is expensive and takes a lot of time.
