Google is giving me a lot of stuff that boils down to it having a lot of calcium/potassium/etc, nothing specific about beets that I've managed to sift through.

I suffer from hypertension and I take beetroot extract which completely keeps me off of meds.

when I was taking a beet root supplement my blood pressure was consistently good, I also had a huge kidney stone develop around that time. So good and bad
