S23+ will get one(?) more year of updates I think. But seeing as it is a back up and you may not touch it, I would get the S22+. People poo poo on the S22+ battery life but again, its a back up. I am getting the S22+ for $200 for my work phone.

Bottom line price was $440. Could be less depending on trade in. For example they offered $150 trade-in on OnePlus Nord 10 but on other new phones they only offer $10 for same trade-in.

There is nothing tricky or illegal about a device payment contract.
This is a device payment plan. The deal is that Verizon will let you pay off your phone interest free over 3 years, as long as you have service with them. The real deal here is that you can pay off the phone immediately and go to any provider that you want.

I went to two corporate store to try to pay off the phone with cash. The first one couldn't do it and told me I have to wait for two weeks to pay off regardless what myVerizon account says. The second store initially told me the same thing and I showed them what the website says, another guy came over and told the lady to check cash payment option and there is such option indeed so I just paid off. I received the phone this morning, activated it, made one call, sent one text, then headed to the stores to pay it off.
I will cancel the service shortly

So ask "cash payment option" when payoff in store? No way to do this online?

After my iPhone 12 deal was completed. I placed a new order.
The 2 x S22+ and 1 x S23+ I received from Walmart weren't activated. Seems like Walmart just scanned the UPC and shipped it to me.
Calling Verizon and giving them the number generated at the time of checkout wasn't helpful. Verizon said it comes back as a "business line" and that my SSN didn't pull up any active account.
Tested the phones with non VZW SIM's and they were locked.

So basically I'm stuck with these locked devices since they'll never be able to be "activated".
Not sure how the bill is going to look like. Do they just bill me for the phone or they bill me activation and service? Or is it like the "free" iphones from last year.

Does anybody know if I activate these locked phones from a new account that's setup independently of the phone purchase, would that start the 60 day unlock timer?
