If you go Surface LTE get the Surface Pro 8 business i5 model. It's has horrible battery life but the best option. The X and Surface pro 9 5G models are only good for using Microsoft office. You can find 8 LTE models on eBay occasionally.
Thank youhug

Yes, Windows on ARM will be a game-changer (3x the battery life with better performance). However, it'll take MS three years to make it 100% reliable and for all the apps to move over to ARM. Until then, I'm sticking with an x86 version of the SP.

The question is, how much faster is 14th gen intel (the SP10 that was just released) vs. 12th gen intel (this SP9).

I think one of the YT video was showing 40% single core. That's pretty decent and I am just worried about battery.

Agree on ARM, they've been at it since 2021 with SQ1 chip.... lol. maybe 2024 is the year they will finally have it working faster than Intel for native apps and have good emulation for x86!!!!

I am gonna sell all my old x86 laptops and scape money together for a ARM Surface 10.

Corporates won't switch for three more years for a reason. Like you say, MS has been at it since the SP X. However, app developers have not been on board. The real starting date of the switch to ARM is June 2024. Give it three years from then before it's 100% there.

I'm glad you asked, HP Elitebook 845 G8 14", a few screws under to open the hatch and replace battery at your will, 3.02lb.
AMD CPUs only and a lousy 1080 resolution 14" display, you go for it.

Can't decide getting this or the Buydig EBay refurbished one that is a i7. Add the keyboard for another $100. Probably worth it to get the i7. eBay refurbished comes with 2 year Allstate warranty.

Saw this video, their stats looked pretty good! and the key "business" software is available (Except for every business's specific vertical's apps of course.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5poVsIeq3TM

I would still reserve performance difference vs. M3 as they only mentioned geekbench vs M3 but all the other "App" specific comparison is all against the Intel Ultra CPUs which I found very strange...

Why wouldn't they just compare against M3 also since that's the target instead of beating up on the crappy Intel Ultra CPU who's already way behind on M3.

I think we both know (fear) the answer: a first gen ARM Windows chip won't beat a 4th gen (M4 by then) ARM Apple chip. It's all good. Qualcomm will take 2-3 years to catch up. And that's OK. A first gen RISK SoC will still be a lot more power-efficient than the best x86 system.
