Doubtful it can be unlocked as its the Verizon version. Also hows this a deal, theres plenty of other ebayers selling these for same price

A variation of this g6 deal was posted back then a few times iirc. Turns out it was a Verizon version too without it being disclosed, but at least it was unlocked. not the case here

nowadays it doesn't seem like cheap ebay phone deals like these get posted as much (nor used phone deals), but I'm guessing that's because companies like Metro have undercut the market with newly released locked phones for 40 to 90 bucks

part of it seems to be that the market desires os updates and more recent hardware, more than in the past, either for security or gaming reasons

It will need Wi-Fi, for real emergency they can always dial 911. All US phones with service or without can dial 911.

Google search showed me "Verizon will block some phones getting set up without sim inserted." I don't know if this phone is safe or not, but in general, one can use phone as a Wi-Fi device like tablets and eyepads.
