Starbucks really killed the reward system...
Nowadays I only buy Starbucks when they have 50% off or BOGO.
Agree. I used to be a Starbucks regular, but since their program changed, I find myself frequenting Dunkin or local coffee shops. I also find that Starbucks prices have risen to astronomical amounts.

The half price shows at checkout. When they have their two for one drink offers, they ring up the full amount but when I pay with the app, the amount drops to half.

You need to press "apply" to get the reduced price. I just tested order my HOT drink to see if it works. Will order at store though... still at work...

Wrong. That's bad information you're giving. It's half off any handcrafted drink. Handcrafted means they have to make it, not just pour it. So no coffee or tea.

Ugh I see the offer but no "apply" in sight. All the way through to clicking place order.

I bring my own personal cup and get 25 bonus stars each visit.

Equals to about 1 free drink every 6-7 visits.

Been going to Dutch Bros from a while now instead of Sbux. Never liked Dunkin, all dunkins (5 of em) near me are schittt, may be coz owned by same owner. And dunkin's reward system is even schittier than Sbux. But Dutch Bros is soo good

But they put their stores in tiny lots and right next to roadways and the drive throughs spill out into the roads and clog traffic. If police would either fine the dutch Bros location or ticket the people out on the roads, it would help alleviate the congestion. Dutch and their patrons need to be more considerate citizens. I have nothing against Dutch and love the Drink one for Dane campaign, just be a more considerate company.

I have some gift cards tied to my acct

If you have the card numbers and pin numbers, you can re-add them to the new account. You can also transfer all the balances to one card, either physical or digital, and then re-add them to the new account. That's what I do when I want to use my gift cards between two different accounts.

I started doing this too, and it is an excellent choice. You also get 10 cents off whatever drink you ordered too. Since it is 25 stars each time, (maximum of 2 times per day I think though) it only takes 4 trips (100 stars) to redeem a free bakery item or iced coffee/tea!

I think I saw somewhere on the news that Starbucks sales have been declining, so they have been EXTRA aggressive in putting out these 50% or triple star days. 50% off a Starbucks is a very very Slickdeal though, they definitely got me today when I went yummy

However, all these reward systems, Dunkin' and Dutch Bros' included, are absolutely ATROCIOUS nowadays!! To get a free drink with points or stars or doohickeys, it takes about $80 to $100 of money SPENT just for one free drink. Not a slickdeal at all.

Some quick math off the top of my head for SB and DB:
-SB: 200 stars for one free drink
-Pay and scan w/ app: 2 stars for every $1 spent
-Scanning ONLY w/ app, 1 star for every $1 spent.

So, we're talking at least $100 for ONE free drink if you remember to scan and pay with your app each time you go..... I know they give people "challenges" to complete for extra stars but it's all just to get you to spend more money anyways.

-DB: 250 points for one free MEDIUM drink
-3 points for every $1 spent. (250 / 3 = $83.33)

Still not great. It's fine to go to these places once a while, but don't drink all your money away people!

how do you specify if your bringing your own cup on a mobile order? or do you just show the cup at drive thru pickup and they manually add 25 stars to your account?

After selecting drink, click "Customize" button, scroll all the way to the bottom and select personal cup check box under cup options. It will take 0.10 off the drink and add 25 bonus stars to your account. Just let them know you have your cup at pickup and they will pour it in from a shaker.
