If anyone is curious, I was able to trade in one a9+ to Best Buy. The model number is slightly off: SM-X218 versus SM-X210. The model listed at Best Buy for trade in is the WIFI model.

The CSR said everything was fine except the model # is slightly off so she had to go get approval, which leads me to believe this is going to be a huge YMMV.
I've might have missed but is there a deal going around regard trading in this tablet at bestbuy? TIA

How much did they give you for the tablet?

Can someone explain to me what's the advantage of not inserting/activating the SIM? Aren't most people going to just cancel the SIM (by not paying) in a month anyways?
I activated 1 and did sim bypass on another. I prefer the one without carrier apps and boot/shutdown splash screens. I don't plan on using this thing with cellular so unlock is not a priority for me.

Without inserting the SIM my tablet never updated to OneUI 6
After I inserted the SIM, it forced a factory reset and then the OneUI 6 update was available

FYI You can use SamFw Tool to change the CSC to XAA and that removes the branding, but it also removes the network unlock option from the connection settings. You can maybe just set the CSC back to TMK in 6 month, unlock, and then switch back to XAA again.

I just decided to leave mine on TMK with Metro branding, but just debloated and removed all the junk. The only Metro things left are the startup/shutdown screens. I'll switch to XAA after the unlock.

Can you check if doing that also opens up OEM UNLOCKING under DEVELOPERS TOOL?

Anyone tried removing or porting out voice lines and keeping only the tablet line(s)? I got one phone plan and 2 tablet plan, and thinking of removing the voice line as tablet plans seem to work on non-Metro phones (plan is to use Google Voice for calls). Not sure if Metro will allow keeping just the tablet lines though. Hence a bit hesitant.

Saw that it was "free" now after just paying for a month. I reactivated my metro line since I'll probably port the number out later in the month and was able to order the tablet.

Does anyone know if the tablet activated with 12 dot method to get it unlock, will the device asked for metro sim again in future after it got factory reset? Much appreciated

Don't be upset and throw a fit if they deny you. Technically the model # don't match so they don't have to do it. But please let me know if you are successful or unsuccessful.

Tested this just now for you. Reset brought back up sim requirement. I bypassed it again using 12 tap method. Also still on 6.0 Dec patch on unactivated tablet.
Your best bet would be to flash stock firmware if you don't care about cellular connectivity.
