I have larger ones (30" and 48" I think) but I find myself using the torpedo about 90% of the time... might pick up this extra pair so I can have one in every toolbag/toolbox

It'll be a conundrum if you get a pair that doesn't balance equally. At least with one, you just assume it's level

I once bought a level from the dollar tree. I think I would have been better off pouring a little bit of water on something and seeing if it ran left or right...

If you are doing any serious work with a level, your chances of finding a good one at a place like harbor freight are pretty nill. Stabila and other pro levels have to be checked for bows that will give you a misread.
