These look like better quality than past $5 home improvement store or Ace hardware deals. Sure there are better levels for more than $15, but for $5 each to have one in the garage and one in the house, why not.

Nevertheless, one can acquire a working level from even the cheapest selection by testing before purchasing, or buy several and returning the 'junk' ones. If not accurate, a level is worthless.
For level on the same horizontal surface, flip end to end and you are wanting the bubble to be in the same exact spot.
For plumb on the same vertical surface, flip over side to side for the same end bubble to be in the same exact spot. Then check the other end.
We usually buy our Stabilla levels from Fastenall, but I still check in store to make certain every bubble is in the same exact spot when flipped or turned. Surprisingly for the price and made in Germany, not all are. I never loan out my personal levels; not ever ---but if you have, or you banged it around, or it has sat for a long time, check before usage.

Edit : just went to the store to check these out... Tried 8 pairs and no two seemed to have the bubbles align - no thanks, even for 5 bucks.

I stand to be corrected but I also prefer a longer level for most of my jobs. I'll throw up my 4ft level for 90% of things just because I trust it more than a small torpedo level you might get with a tv mount kit.
