It's to send you information when your generator is running, oil change reminders, maybe even fault code (don't remember).
That's right. App and also site (iirc) gives you status history on run exercises, battery voltage, run history, faults codes, maintenance reminders and history, etc.
The other guy trying to be witty but fails to realize that the gen will provide power and get everything - including your LAN - back up while running. ISP wan isn't always down at the same time power is, at least for me.

The cost of installation will be just as much as the purchase price
Yep, but I will say my 11kw one has been running 12-13 years, I change oil every 3 years. Since it primarily does a 15min check once a month and a few outages a year.
If mine bites dust I will replace with same unit since everything's already installed:just swap out.
Very happy with it. I noticed several other people bought them too over the years I hear them kick on during outages
Only thing is if we lose power at like 3am in morning and there's no storm, I toss robe on asap and run down and hit "off" so I don't wake neighbors.
If it's storming I leave it on tho. As it controls the sump pump for basement floor/prevent flooding. Otherwise I'm a good neighbor and power will be on by morning usually, so no reason to let it make noise for hours in the AM

Is it that loud? I remember working on some trailer towed generators in the military. They were really loud. Had to sand bag around them. More for noise than heat signal. ,(even when panels were closed,)

That is very considerate of you to your neighbors. I wish other people would be thoughtful of their neighbors where I live nobody even wants to talk to each other or wave hello it's horrible. 😭

Yeah, I'd say it's roughly about the same noise level as a riding lawn mower engine.

My neighbor got one installed 10 years ago. It was $3,000 just for installation.
I thought covering would quiet it down?
Oh, you live in my HOA, too.
The starting noises then WHAMMMMMMMMM for.like 1 min or 2 then idles down, but yes it ain't quiet.
Riding mower is fair comparison from what I understand, it's quiet compared to other brands but it ain't quiet
