PSA if you try buying this through FB marketplace.

On Facebook marketplace, there is a scam going around with this coffee model. I got scammed by it 2 months ago and I still see a ton of fake listings. The scam is the seller sends your item to the wrong address intentionally and blocks you. Refunds on FB need you to send the seller a message, so they abuse this loophole and FB support doesn't help. Only way out of this is credit card chargeback.

You don't need to buy a $160 grinder for spices. I have a cheap $20 (Hamilton Beach) one and it's more than enough. I come from a culture that uses a lot of spices in cooking btw.

Manual grinders are quieter and last longer than all of the above with better grind resolution. 1zpresso etc. Takes 30 seconds or so to grind out a shot, but totally worth not waking up kids at 6am. Didn't notice any manual mentions, worth your consideration.

I do not own the ESP version, but have owned the Maestro Plus for 14 years. I use it every single day. The only issue I've ever had (which turned out to be an improvement), was the timer switch broke causing the machine to run constantly when supplied with power. I put an on/off switch at the wall outlet the grinder is plugged into, and now I don't have to hold down a button or twist the timer, I just flip it on and wait for the hopper to empty, and flip it off. If this thing ever breaks, which seems doubtful at this point; I would not hesitate to purchase again. Just clean it regularly and it will run forever.

Edit: looking at the photos of these newer grinders, it looks like they did away with the rotating timer on the side and is now a static on or off switch. That's a good move on their part.

Does anyone know if this would be good for grinding spices as well?

I recently got this kitchenaid grinder. Is it good enough for espresso shots? Any feedback from the experts is highly appreciated.

Yep just ordered one. Nice deal for the ESP, a very versatile entry grinder. Returning my DF54. Thanks OP.
is this one really better than DF54??? I had an impression that DF54 was really good, and exceptional value for money

40% higher price, can't do coarse grinds, excessive static and plastic cup causes big mess, and chute gets jammed up easily. Upsides of DF54 are that it's much quieter, better build quality, and better grind consistency. Cheers.
Plot twist: the encore also has static and messy cup issues.

I'm wondering how useful the little espresso grind cup is going to be, given the way my older encore works.

It will grind anything hard and dry and bean sized into smaller bits. You don't want to mix coffee and spices though.

I own the ESP and pair it with a Bambino Plus. It's my first espresso specific grinder so I don't have any comparisons but it seems to work well. It has 40 grind settings with 1-20 being espresso (lower = finer). The manual says to use 15 but I've been using it between 1-10 depending the roast. It does come with extra shims if you need to go finer but I haven't had the need. It is loud but I don't really care about the noise factor. The grinder is smaller than I thought which is good because I don't have much counter space. Some people complain about retention and having grinds spill every where but to me it's only been minor. 99% of what I make are milk based drinks and those taste good to me so I can't really comment on it's pure espresso making ability.

The coupon code ALSO works for the Baratza Encore (non ESP version)-- for those who want a quality grinder for Drip Coffee. I bought one and the coupon code worked for me!

I discovered the coupon works site wide. I jumped on the Plus model for Mother's Day. The basic model is something I bought my wife over 15 years ago and only had to go through a gear upgrade. Longest lasting appliance I've had in my life thus far, I hope they still make them as good as they did long ago!
