Good deal, but not the lowest price. The price intelligence is off.
The lowest price on Amazon was $220.

I have this exact model:

1. The thermal metal carafe is glass lined so heat loss is very minimal. No preheating required.

2. You can stop the coffee flow with the little switch you see on the front of the basket. It also adjusts the flow for smaller quantities.

3. The plastics on this newer version do not seem of any concern. Just as good if not better than any other coffee maker out there.

4. It does have a manual toggle switch, so get a smart plug or outlet and tell your virtual assistant to make the coffee when you wake up. 😉

Hope it helps!

I have this same model. Bought to replace my Bonavita, which had been dying a slow death.
Cannot say enough great things. By far the best coffee brewer I've purchased.

I've had a Moccamaster for a few years but won't buy another. Their warranty excludes all plastic parts. The plastic parts fail and are expensive to replace. The valve on my basket started failing after just a year due to weak/warped plastic, causing the brews to overflow all over the counter. Turns out it's a widespread issue with tons of complaints. Technivorm even has an entire YouTube video dedicated to diagnosing this problem. But their warranty has been designed to exclude the plastic parts most likely to fail. For a $300 drip coffee maker, it should be a no questions asked replacement during the warranty period. If you can't stand behind it with such great margins, then I'm not giving you business again.
Lol, I've read the same thing elsewhere. I've thought about buying one of the moccamasters bc I love coffee and drink a ton of it and people rave about them but it absolutely blows my mind that a $300+ machine seems to be filled with almost all cheap, plastic parts. Like what are you even paying for?? The whole point of spending more on stuff like this is you're supposed to be paying for something that's more well engineered and uses better materials so it lasts longer!

I have one of those and i do like it, but I switched to pour over to save on coffee, and now i have a moccamaster too for convenience and for when i want to brew a larger pot.

I was using almost twice the amount of coffee beans with the french press in order to get the same strength, same amount of coffee brewed.

I can't say enough good things about this brewer. It's pretty much considered the best (or one of the best) drip coffee makers you can buy. I've had this model for probably 20 years now and it is, by far, the best coffee I've ever had. Like others have said, get beans from a local roaster and grind them with a quality burr grinder for the best results.

I love this coffee maker but hate the thermal carafe. its not dishwasher safe, comes apart in so many pieces, is hard to put back together, and, worst of all, constantly has nasty water stuck between the inner glass carafe and the outer metal, its disgusting, smelly and then drips / leaks all over the place. their support was no help with this, maybe i'm doing something wrong but I wish there was a better alternative for their thermal carafe
I don't think you're supposed to take it apart. I just wash the inside of mine with a bottle brush occasionally. But sometimes I don't bother because I'm gross.

I absolutely love the thermal glass lined carafe btw. Coffee can sit in there for two hours and it won't taste great, but it'll taste far better than it would after sitting in a stainless steel carafe, and far better than a glass pot with a heating pad

This is exactly the kind of comment I was looking for, thanks!
All four points you made were very helpful.
So, all in all, would you say you like this model?

yeah tbh every time I buy a drip coffee from a coffee shop, it tastes like water in comparison.
