Thanks to Deal Hunter niki4h for finding this deal.
Sony has a better sound and noise-cancelling IMO, but the QC's are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.
Several considerations:
1. Bose customer service is not what it used to be. Very difficult to get get a response - it's mostly scripted by offshore analysts.
2. Bose website will accept id.me for students, medical, first responders, etc.
3. AmEx cardholder offer if valid through 01-May ($50 max). Reminder: you must apply the discount to your AmEx account for it to be acknowledged.
Hmm, that video is for this product and I wasn't aware of the channel imbalance issue. From further research, seems that a lot of other models of Bose wireless headphones have the same issue. I've never had Bose headphones before so never knew about this. Thanks for pointing this out. I was planning to buy these headphones, but will probably pass now.
Would also like to know if you guys think the ultra is worth about $100 more (since the Amex offer helps discount the ultra as well)?
I picked up the QC Ultras from the Verizon deal a few weeks back. I prefer the SC because they have physical buttons. The QC Ultra use a single touch button that requires long or multiple presses. And the QC Ultra lack a dedicated power button (you use that single touch button mentioned above).
If I had a choice, I'd return the Ultra for another set of these.
I had the Sony xm4 first. They sounded good but got uncomfortable after a short time. In addition they got hot on my ears with noise canceling on. Returned them and got the QC instead. Much more uncomfortable IMO.
Is this a targetted offer? AMEX Plat don't see the offer.
You may need to call them and ask. I added it a few weeks back, but no longer see it in the benefits section. I recommend calling AmEx and asking. If you purchase without adding the benefit, AmEx will not credit your account.
As of April 15, 2024, American Express cardholders can receive 15% back on purchases made online at bose.com up to a total of $50 as a statement credit by May 1, 2024. To receive the benefit, cardholders must add the offer to their eligible card and then use the same card to make purchases. Only U.S.-issued American Express cards are eligible, and enrollment is limited.

Id.me on these is about $30 for a nurse so about $219 on the bose website right now.
How's the mic on this? Can I get similar results with a high end gaming headset?
I have this and do not recommend if gaming is the primary use. It works great for work (MS teams) and music, when I tried to play games, there are severe distortions. It goes away if I use it plugged in with the included audio cable. Kinda defeats the wireless part.

The headband for every Sony headphones I've ever owned breaks. Is their high end model better in this regard?
I agree. I have the Sony MX-4's for productivity and travel, and I love them. I do prefer the Bose QC45's for workout comfort, however.

Amex provides a max number of offers. Sometimes adding offers frees up space for more offers.
Which has more bass?
