Absolute beginner here and wondering if anyone would be willing to weigh in. I'm not in a hurry to buy but, if I can find something now that's under $300 for making simple around the house items (like a wall mount for my Wandvac) , wouldn't say no.

I don't need the ability to print multiple colors, doubt resin will become my jam anytime soon, and don't actually care about printing speed. What I want is something that's a.) easy (enough) to use out of the box and won't require tons of tinkering, and b.) not extremely limited in terms of print size.

How do you think the Neptune 4 Pro stacks up against the Neptune 3 Plus that's on sale in good used condition for $180 on elagoo's website or this one on sale for $299 at BB?

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/...Id=6556949

Bought my kids (8 and 10 year old) an Ender 3 V3 SE for $180 new and they set it up and started printing on their own and haven't stopped. It's been months and no issues. Just feed filament and print. If a couple kids with no experience have no issues then it gets a thumbs up from me!

Creality Ender 3 v2 Neo - $179 NEW

LOTS of Ender family owners/users, so you will have A LOT of resources online to help you.

The Ender 3 series is like buying a used hot rod. Be ready for LOTS of troubleshooting. Ender 3s are great for printer farms managed by professionals, NOT home hobbyists...unless they're masochists.

Recommend Bambu A1 mini without ams for your price range, works out of the box, no tinkering, great machine. You will care about speed and the A1 mini checks that box.
Second this. I've had 5 printers from Creality and Flashforge, and now Bambu. It's truly not even close. The person saying to avoid is no different than the Apple haters. They are truly the best 3D printers out there, and now companies are trying to copy them.

I'm not sure I totally agree. Some require babysitting but others are better. The V3 printers are quite good. However since they are all "Ender 3" printers people tend to conflate the issue associated with the older Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro with the newer more automated options. Honestly, my trouble free printer was the Monoprice Cadet that was a deal last year. Very limited in capabilities but trouble free within those limits.

I wouldn't get the A1 mini. Wait for the A1 to get back on the market. It is more money but the extra build area is nice. It seems many files are designed around that 220mm cube size.

And yet nothing happened. Bambu pre-emptively recalled the beds before anything had happened. They did WAY more than 99% of 3D printing companies would have done.

There are always people that love to hate. Their opinion doesn't matter. Bambu Labs changed the game for 3D printing. I can't wait to see what they have in store for their next models.

In another note, Bambu increased their software updates for 3+ years from today and security for 5 plus. Not 2 as someone stated.

Yes they " changed the game" by reskinning prusa slicer and using klipper. Really revolutionary.

Found the snob!

I'm sure you think sleeping in an RV is "camping," too.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with the Ender family, especially 3 v2 and later.

No, they're not plug it in and push a button like with a child's toy. Walmart has a toy section for such people who need that.

Not exactly. Recalled and remedied. But shouldn't have happened in the first place, and wouldn't have if these companies would actually have UL test them! Not these fly-by-night "alternatives."

Bambu hardware looks appealing, and many people love it. I'd consider it in the future. But I'm not a snob, and am happy with my Ender 3 v2.

Most slicers are reskins of Cura or Prusa.

Good for them adapting Klipper to their hardware!

Not relevant for everyone, but for those who get this printer and are into tinkering/electronics, check out OpenNept4une (https://github.com/OpenNeptune3D/OpenNept4une). Basically replaces anything that was Elegoo related with vanilla klipper/fluidd and allows updates. The developers have put in a bunch of time and it's working great for me. Alleviates some of the concern about the manufacturer dropping support. I'm not saying Elegoo will do that, but I like knowing that, if it did happen, I would still get software updates.

Any comments or experience with this printer?

I bought it the BF before last and I never even unboxed it yet
I never had time and then the V3 SE came out and I got that one and it had been great so far.
I got it for like $140 on BF at MC with the $25 off coupon.
I paid $240 for the V2 neo the year before and the V3 SE seem so much better.
The main thing is the auto Z offset which is probably the best for a beginner.
And it also has a direct drive sprite extruder.
I wish I had waited for the V3 SR but nobody knew it was coming and that Creality would release something so much better than even the S1 for so cheap.
I saw the V3 SE on AliExpress last week for like $150.
I would say start with that and wait till next year or at least BF is you want something else.
The deals at MC last year were really good they had the K1 on sale last BF for $300.
I would get the V3 SE for now and wait it out before investing in another printer .
Things are really starting to advance quickly now.
I was just not wanting to deal with Z offset but I never unboxed it so I can't say for sure if it would have been a problem or not.
Hopefully when I do get around to it it will just have the Z offset calibrated out of the box but who knows.
