They will add a layer of protection, but rose stems will poke through every glove I've tried. The only thing I've found is light pressure when handling, do not squeeze.

This is incorrect information. If you click buy, you get a bundle, which includes both pairs of gloves. I'd you order 2, you'd get 4 pairs of gloves.

Welding Gloves (harborfreight.com)
These are what I use for gardening and, yes, I have to be careful with rose and blackberry thorns, but they work better than any other gardening gloves I've used for that. You do need to break them in a bit; they start out a little stiff.
