Bambino plus has a back off value for steam pressure release -- this QOL feature
And the porta filter is much better quality compared to regular Bambino.,-- this definitely makes difference in shot that's being pulled

drops to this price at least twice annually. decided to get the regular bambino as the two are the same internally (besides the plus bonus features which weren't necessary for me). would rather invest the extra $100 into a better espresso grinder.
Breville makes modern looking machine and works okay for occasional users.
if you expect to use it on a regular basis, and use it often, Gaggia Classic at this price range is hard to beat.

yeah it has a three way solenoid but wet pucks or steam aren't a major problem in the regular bambino to make it necessary imo. as far as the portafilter being made of different material, maybe that's better for overall durability but that doesn't seem to impact the day to day performance in any significant way. a better grinder would have a much greater impact overall.

that's for the evo line. the old classic line isn't affected (AFAIK), and i think the evo line is getting fixed as well.
are the older classics still being sold at major retailers? they claim to be "fixing" the issue but it remains to be seen whether that is a lasting solution.
Owned our standard Bambino for 16 months now. It's been fine, just descaling as the only maintenance.
Bambino and Bambino Plus both have plastic lined portafilters, so get a CrossCreek double spout instead unless you trust nearly boiling water and plastic!
Edit: The Crosscreek also includes a precision basket so you don't need to spend another $30 on an IMS.
