I routinely do a return and re-buy. They return everything bought from the other store(s) and re-ring everything in a new transaction at that store.

It's not bad if you have multiple stores within a few miles of each other like I do. It also helps to ask for a printout of their available stock as they may have stuff that they don't have a case for out on the shelf.

Aha, did not know you could do that. So even if there are 4 different stores in your area each with 1 game you want that's eligible for this promo, you can make it work, provided you're willing to do all the driving and returning/rebuying. Makes sense. Thanks for the tip. Thumbs up
Watch out, my account was flagged and i couldn't buy anything for a while because i did this at 2 stores 2 times so maybe was a one time thing just ask first.

Thank you. Big Grin If one of these stores had enough inventory to be able to get the deal then it wouldn't be necessary to return and re-buy. Though sometimes the stores have stock that they don't have a case out on the shelf for, so asking for a printout of their stock for X or Y console can save you a trip to a second (or third) store.

This deal isn't the only one that a return and re-buy can be beneficial for. I've picked up two TV's (a 43" and a 65") and a 32" PC monitor for $100 each on the TV's and $50 for the monitor (among other things) just by asking to "change payment method". It's pretty funny watching the shocked look on the employees faces when the price drops down to an insane price.

Can you explain the change payment method scenario? Was there a new clearance price or something?

Just wanted to say thanks again for this advice. I found one store with 2 games I wanted and two other stores each with 1 game I wanted. It took a little bit of driving and returning/rebuying twice, but I ultimately ended up with all 4 games I wanted at the promo price. None of the employees had any concerns about doing the return/rebuys for me, and one of them mentioned it was a relatively common thing for customers to do during promos like this one or the B2G1 pre-owned games, so I don't feel too bad about it.

That was the main reason why I did the return and re-buy at places like Walmart, since the clearance prices can differ between stores. It's worth a shot. The worst they can say is no.

I typically just say that I would like to change my payment method that I used to pay for the item(s) with, like for example using cash versus a credit card or a debit card instead of a credit card.

Usually most people will sympathize with not wanting to put a lot of money on a credit card and will respond with something like "I know that feeling all too well".

It also helps to say something like "oh it must have gone on sale since I bought it" when the lower price comes up.

You're quite welcome. It's not a bad way to get enough games that qualify for the promotion, though the added gas and mileage can make it less worth it if the stores are too far apart.

Great if you have a PS4 and not many games. Pretty much useless for Switch titles though, since they are generally higher. I think GTA V and some other good older PS4 titles were 19.99 in store.

Some stores actually have PS3/360 and sometimes even older stuff. The PS3 and 360 stuff is usually at the bottom of the respective PS4 or Xbox One/Series X sections. Older titles than that and you have to ask as they're usually in the drawers or the 3ds/ds/etc case.
