the original series ends abruptly at 25 episodes. its supposed to continue with a new story line but that never happened with this original series. there a few "new" series but I never followed those after trying out a few episodes. then there are the full-length movies that are decent since they used a lot of the original voice actors but lacked the raw feel of the original tv series. one of my favorites anime series. characters, english voice actors, story, soundtrack, the feels were great. definitely a great series to re-watch every couple years.
The creator Kentaro Miura died in 2021 so we probably wont be seeing any more berserk.
Put your grasses on! Nothing will be wrong.

The real strugglers are those who have been following it for decades and waiting an eternity for a single new chapter only to have the creator die in the end. Doubtful it will ever be finished, but its impact is eternal.
The manga is still being serialized. I think there is a monthly chapter coming out.
Only way you will get Blu Ray here in the USA. I have the blu ray from EU, steelbook from EU, the movie trilogy and the 2016 from US.. and then got this from CR when it was on pre order.. My all time favorite Manga series and the art on both Manga and this anime are so beautiful (1997 series really has some beautiful scenes, great dialogues and not to forget Susumu Hirasawa's music).
YouTube has the entire 1997 series if someone wants to try first.. and if you are new to this series , it is Rated R..
The series does end on a cliff hanger, but I think that's what is great about the series since you really end up reading the manga after that.. I've been a fan of the series for almost 20 years now and the latest chapter came out 2-3 days ago. The only manga series I still wait for every chapter.
Just glad to see there are so many fans of this series..

The manga is being completed by his ink guy. The whole story was laid out to him, it's just going to take a long time because the output has dramatically slowed.
One of the top animes ever. Just don't watch the new "remake" that came out few years ago with the cheap CGI's. The 3 movies that came out basically recapping the OG series were also done well, those are on Amazon prime.
I know everyone shits ln the newer Berserk anime series a lot but if you ignore the nipple-less women and shitty 3D it is actually a pretty faithful adaptation of some of the later manga stories. For people that aren't readers (please read the manga) it atleast gives them an idea of where the story goes after this anime.
Gave the movies and this series a full run through and it really just turned out to be predictable weeb mysogynist garbage. Better than the newer ones in art style and more mature themes, but that's also typical for the 90s vs later weeb trash.
It is a very dark fantasy with characters tragedies stemming from sexual assault/violence, and a general authoritarian abuse of power.
The poster above me claims it's a weeb misogyny. It's actually quite progressive for series about a Blackswordsman swinging a Buster Sword and chopping people in half.
It's no more misogynistic than Game Of Thrones. It's a medieval story setting, it's going to have that princess/damsel in distress along with characters like Sansa. Hell. one of the characters is called Casca, which is crazily similar to the spelling of Sansa. Casca is a female warrior who probably has Stockholm syndrome because of her past. Same with Guts. He's a victim of abuse as a child, and wanting a family. Guts underneath this Buster sword is a kid wanting a family. There's also a hint of homosexual love between the two male characters.
I won't spoil anymore, but if you have any interest in a Game of Thrones type story with a darker fantasy (Demons and markings), this is for you.
For anime fans, you need to collect this at this price. I'm not the best at knowing when things go out of print, but it was a long time coming for this set. It released at $60, and it keeps going in and out of stock, and the third party prices sit at like $100 waiting for the people to overpay. So grab this for $40.
It does end on a cliffhanger. Netflix series should be used to watch that ending, and the series that came out a few years ago is worth the watch if you want the story to continue.
40 is not cheap considering this is a 20 plus years ago. And it's not a complete set either. They should have released with the second half done in cgi. Good or bad it would have some semblance of a finished product.
This is a small adaptation of part of a long running manga (comic) series. The manga started in 1989 and has 42 volumes. The author recently passed away in 2021 so the story will likely never be concluded. I would still recommend the Manga as it is great and this animated version is great as well
his team is continuing the story, so a few chapters have come out since his death (just had a new chapter last week). I believe his best friend knew how the story was to go.

Yes but at the same pace as usual and they've announced a hiatus as if that's something we aren't used to lol.
