Read the reviews, especially the recent ones. If you want to use this as a phone charger, then it appears it will work fine with USB charging. However, if you want to use the 120v plug, it usually only works when the engine is turned off. That kind of defeats the purpose, if you ask me. If you are charging something that requires a lot of power, then you will have a good chance of running your vehicle battery down. Fwiw

I would love to give you a ride but my Maserati, Lamborghini, and Porsche are being waxed by Swedish Super Models, who are living at one of my mansions, on one of the islands that I own, that i can only get there by helicopter, thats made by the company my father gave me, who invented the "4 USBA, 120v 3 prong plug, 3 12v plugs port" plug.

To anyone that doesn't know about Tesla, they use a 16V lithium ion battery instead of the 12V lead acid batteries on newer models for the low voltage system. Some inverters don't like the higher voltage.

I'm trying to figure out why it would not work for 120AC only when the vehicle is running... Does it pop the fuse in that situation?

I think all my vehicles have a 15A fuse for the cig/aux port, and they aren't capable of maxxing that unless the motor is running. Makes me wonder if the designer of the product intentionally did that to prevent overtaxing the alternator on smaller vehicles.

I don't think that's true. I saw one review from someone saying this and they were trying to run dewalt battery chargers off of it. Those things draw 4-6 amps at 120V = 500-700W of draw. Their conclusion that it works with the car off but not on is probably a flawed conclusion based on limited data.

If anything, this should be capable of outputting *more* wattage with the car running because the input voltage is higher. The limitation will be the fuse protecting the wiring of the lighter circuit, which typically is 15A @ 12V. At 14V, which is what the alternator would output, you'd be able to squeeze more watts onto those wires before hitting 15A. But I bet the inverter itself has a cutoff.
