Surprised at how bad the HD reviews are. I really like mine and found their customer service to be extremely prompt and generous.

Terrible reviews on the sensors, fan and customer service. Cool idea though as the fan for my Green Egg is the same price as this whole grill

Highly considering it. I run a Weber smokey mountain.... This seems convenient as all hell. How has your blower and thermostat held up.
How about rust or color change particularly on the ash pan?
How long have you had it?

I've had mine for a little over a year and a half now. Definitely worth the $220 I spent on it. The auto temperature feature is soooo nice. Have had to replace the temperature probe, but was very easy. Stored outside in the Midwest winter with cover.

I bought this shortly after its release and joined FB owners groups. Tons of people with their temp sensor crapping out, including mine only after a few cooks. Also tons of people complaining about chargriller taking forever to send out a replacement probe. There was even a period where the probes were back ordered for months. After my probe went bad, my grill was strictly used as a direct heat grill since the temp control feature became unusable. Fixed it just recently with an $11 replacement from amazon. Works like how its supposed to now.

I got mine in January of last year and everything has held up, but I use a cover and keep it under a roof. Ash pan looks fine, although one of my grates came with a little rust (possibly seasoned incorrectly) and they shot me a new one within 2 weeks.

I've had mine for 2 years. It's worked great but a recent app update has limited the functionality. I know a lot of people have had trouble with the probe, but I have been lucky and mine has functioned fine. Really really like it. Highly recommend it. Plus you can always buy an ashpan from the normal akorn and use it like a normal grill if you don't want to use the automatic functionality.

What's the issue with app? Limits long cooks?

For a while after an update it simply wouldn't open. Then it wouldn't connect to the grill. Recently it started working again though. Worked great on my most recent cook

requires 2 self tapping screws to mount it as well as requires you to slightly enlarge the hole you pass the cable through in order to fit the connector through it.
