Yeah, 35W over two ports for $40 isn't great these days. I always have one of the flat ones with me, though -- it's enough for a phone/tablet combo, and the small/squat form factor with angled inputs is great for traveling to places where outlets might be blocked by furniture. Also, lots of plane/train outlets have loose connections, which a lot of chargers will drop out of, but this almost certainly won't.

A good price if you are looking specifically for this exact adapter, but I'll echo other commenters and say there are far better deals higher power units from reputable brands. I think for $2-$3 more you can get an Anker 100w charger with 2 USB-C and 1 USB-A port right now.

Is there *any* reason why anyone would buy this - a pathetic 35W - for $40 when you typically get much more for almost half via Anker practically all the time?

I have this charger and find it to be convenient. Apple stuff charges at lower speeds, so higher wattages won't make a difference anyway.

It's slim against the wall and has the cords pointing down instead of out so it'll fit easier behind furniture. Other than that... I got nothin'.

I have this charger and it's built very well. I would much rather buy a top shelf charger from a known brand instead of an Amazon special from ALLCAPS random letter Chinese company. I've had cheap chargers in the past that *melted* soon after plugging in. Never again.

Also, I'm not interested in ULTRA FAST million watt charging in order to keep my battery around for several years. 35w is plenty for overnight charging.

Novice question here: Do all new iPads bring a charger or just a cable?

It looks like it is a bit more compact than the Anker. This item is designed to work with specific hardware though—it's an option for purchase with a MacBook Air, and it's designed to be used with that while charging some other device (phone) while traveling. I know some MacBooks can charge at higher W than their standard chargers, but I don't know if that's the case with a MacBook Air or if that's something that is recommended. For those people, 100W is not useful and not worth even the minor tradeoffs with the Anker charger of a similar price.

This charger is included with MacBook Air. They also offer a 75w if you want quick charging for the laptop.

There aren't many quality chargers that have dual usb c facing down. I took a gamble on some Mokin ones on Amazon that seem to be OK but have some faint coil whine.
