According to this test the 5800x3d does 25fps better than the 5900x

Also this benchmark side by side should show the difference between the two.
Even though the 5800X3D has 4 fewer cores than the 5900x, it has something called 3D v cache which makes a big difference for gaming performance.
Albeit all depends on how good your GPU is. If your running something like a GTX 1060, no matter what cpu you upgrade to, it won't make much of a difference. Hope this helps
