The iPhone 11 is very old at this point, I wouldn't recommend anything older than the iPhone 12.

I had an iPhone 11 up until 2023 and the main issue was that the chip would get crazy hot. Battery was also affected by that

I was using an iPhone 11 like 6 months ago and it was behaving totally fine. Disagree that it's not usable right now, and the battery life will be right up there with the 12 whose battery life was natively poor.

After the activation is completely done, what would happen to the unlock countdown (60 days) or even the service, if I eject the SIM to use it on another unlocked phone?

Don't do that. It will screw up your service and the other unlocked phone will stop working.

Why would it mess up the unlocked phone? The whole point of unlocking it was to use it with ANY carrier. We don't deal with CDMA or GSM crap anymore.

Well, technically you can get them unlocked while leaving the phone sealed. The "activation" of the IMEI on the Total system is what triggers the unlock and doesn't actually require the physical activation of the phone. A number of us have done this from previous threads with the box left sealed and they still unlocked successfully. However, it does add to the risk of complications, as others have mentioned previously. It's not the "recommended" way to do things by any means. And a ported number could also possibly add another complication. In my experience, the crucial part is to make sure that the line is successfully activated on Total. So in other words, the line gets to the point where it shows as "active" and plan days are counting down. And most importantly, the corresponding IMEI of the new phone shows up as linked to that active plan.

As has been mentioned several times in this thread (& every other thread for Total & Tracfone) the sim is registered to IMEI of phone it's activated with so it's up to you if you want to take the chance on it working (or service suddenly not working).
Total/Tracfone are often YMMV & deviating from standard usage can sometimes have unfortunate results.
