Under Settings > Account > Google Voice number, make sure to 'Unlock'
Account # is your GV phone #
Pin you have to create in your GV account settings by toggling on "Call to listen" under voicemail settings.
later during activation/port at Total site, use "other" as your current provider.\
Based on info in this thread as well as info found on google, it is recommended to use google's address if you are porting a GV number and are asked for an address when providing port info for your 'old carrier':

If your new carrier asks for an address, you can provide them with Google's Address: 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043. That's it! Once you've provided your new carrier with the necessary information, they should be able to port your Google Voice number over to their service.

Once activated, Text UNLOCK to 611611 (send it twice, it wont work first time) to confirm your unlock date. (approx. 60 days) The unlock is automatic and sent from apple servers. And it will unlock from anywhere in the world.
Bypass port in requirement for activation
YMMV Bypass port requirement After getting device activate on total website at top click Activate>New Phone One you've purchased through Total Wireless>I want a newer number. Plan was tied to phone IMEI on activation.
YMMV, you can activate your phone on tracfone.com with new number directly to bypass port in requirement and the cost is $10 But please be reminded, after you input the imei on tracfone.com, you prepaid balance for your total-by-verizon will be lost and your phone will be rebrand to tracfone and you can't activate it on total-by-verizon wihout rebranding it back to total-by-verizon
You are NOT required to pay for a second month of service!
**Confirmed it doesn't work with a Verizon prepaid SIM card inserted 24 hours after activating the phone on Total VZ sim card.
Chase 15% Offer Details (YMMV / Targeted)
NOTE - this deal is YMMV / Targeted. I have several chase credit cards, but the offer only appears on 2 of the cards.
1) Log into chase.com account
2) Accounts tab -> (top left of screen)
3) On the right hand side of the screen you will see a "Chase offers" panel, click it
4) Top right corner there is a "choose account" drop down. If you have multiple chase cards, you will have to cycle through all of them and check the deals below that appear. not all of them will have the Verizon offer (hence YMMV)
5) If you see "Total by Verizon" deal then click on the "+" to add the offer to your card. NOTE - Remember which card you added it to (i.e the last 4 digits of the card)
When checking out on TotalByVerizon.com, use the Chase credit card that you added the offer to, to pay for the phone.
You will get an email notification a few days later, if successful (Subject "Congrats! You've successfully redeemed one of your Chase Offers")

I had an iPhone 11 up until 2023 and the main issue was that the chip would get crazy hot. Battery was also affected by that

Apple provides super-long support timeframes compared to the Android world.
iPhone 11 is slated to get iOS 18 and will probably get another couple years of security updates past that.
Still a decent, usable phone.

For many people who use the phone to just talk/text/pictures it does perfectly fine-no need to spend more when you need less. Take the older generation…my parents use the previous model because frankly the new tech is hard for them to grasp and thus wasted.
If you were already on Verizon, can you do this deal?

Unlike Android devices, which are updated for a specified number of years after release, Apple doesn't do it that way.
Apple devices are updated based on their version of iOS - if your iOS version has a security update, you get it. Since the iPhone 11 will probably get iOS 18, it should get security updates for a few years beyond that, as it will get them until Apple stops patching iOS18.
But, I'd say that's definitely a judgement call. A new $300 midrange android (like a Samsung a35, a54, or a34) is going to have newer tech, be supported longer, have a bigger screen, and pretty comparable performance. You'll probably also get SD card support, since midrange androids usually have it.
The apple will have better privacy, camera, and have the word "apple" making people think your are more creative and enlightened.
There are cases to be made for or against both devices, and it probably just comes down to which you prefer. Both will be fine for general use, and won't be fine for heavy processing or intense gaming.
If you want, you can I think fairly compare it to this other similar Total by Verizon deal for the a54 (which I just bought):

We have a family plan with Verizon, could I buy this, port his number over, use it for a while then upgrade him back onto the family plan?
05/24 - Activated and submitted port request from Google Voice
05/25 - Porting department said the port would be completed on 05/29 at 1pm
05/28 - Received an email from Google Voice that the number was ported, phone status on Total's website still showed inactive
05/29 - At the time the port was scheduled to be completed, my Total account showed the line as active
