The iPhone 11 is very old at this point, I wouldn't recommend anything older than the iPhone 12.

I had an iPhone 11 up until 2023 and the main issue was that the chip would get crazy hot. Battery was also affected by that

I was using an iPhone 11 like 6 months ago and it was behaving totally fine. Disagree that it's not usable right now, and the battery life will be right up there with the 12 whose battery life was natively poor.

Do you have to unlock the GV number before entering it to check eligibility? I've tried all my GV numbers and it keeps telling me that the number is not eligible.
i have a different problem. one of my metro number can not get the txt verification code from total. the other one is fine.

first time doing this with GV, it says I am eligible. question is after 30 days, when I cancel, does it port back to GV or stuck in limbo? I want to have it back to my GV account. thanks

If you want to keep your current GV number then you should use a new email to create another GV number to use for this deal.

I believe it costs $20 to port a number IN to GV.

To get a new GV number,
"You must have an existing US-based mobile phone number to qualify."

I wouldn't assume you can port the number back to GV after 30 days. For one thing, you have to pay for 2nd month of service if you want to port out after 30 days. I guess you can port it out after 60 days and the phone is unlocked after you paid for the 3rd month of service.

I bought two of these phones. When activating the first one, it let me choose a new number (no port necessary). The phone activated immediately and works fine with the new number. With the second phone, I was required to port a number. I chose "Other" for the carrier and ported an old Google Voice number that I wasn't using any more. I got a call from Total by Verizon that the port should complete in five days.
It's showing this when choosing new number:

"You must bring your number if you want to activate this undefined."

Anyone porting two lines from GV cannot add the second, because it allows only editing the "other" account"?

Wait for 1st line to fully port & activate before trying to activate 2nd line on same account

Has anyone ported out a week or a few days before the month was over, and did the phone still unlock on the date that 611611 said? The text said it will be automatically unlocked. Not sure if porting out would change that.

Seems like my gv port got struck. I'm getting signals and able to make calls but can't see active line in total by Verizon and even they can't see my number associated with an account. When I text UNLOCK to 611611, I'm getting "sorry there is a problem processing your request . Please call 611"

Anyone facing the same issue?

In previous threads, a few users have reported that they ported out during the first month and the phone still unlocked after 60 days. However, it's definitely an added risk, as there's not much data on it and they could also possibly update their systems when it comes to those processes.

pc did not work, but phone did work for me. you have to click the link from your phone.
Thank you for the suggestion. This is what worked for me.
Order from total by verizon site in macbook with edge browser. On the verification step, use your phone to scan the barcode to open link in any bowser. (Safari for iphone worked for me). Complete the verification by scanning docs on the phone.
Now, return to the laptop and it should say verification complete. Thank you.

There are usually a lot of opinions on both sides, but it's basically going to come down to personal preference. I pretty much always have a couple of phones around. Right now, I have an SE 3 and a 12 (an 11 before that). The SE 3 is my preferred phone and my 11 / 12 pretty much just sits on my desk as a backup device because I much prefer the smaller size and fingerprint ID. However, I also do most of my web browsing on an iPad while phone is mostly for calls / texts / maps / apps … the equation would probably change for someone constantly using their phone for photo / video content.
Thanks for the feedback. I primarily use an Android phone as my daily driver while the iPhone SE3 is being used as a backup; basically, it's being stored in a drawer, turned off w/o a SIM card in it. No point in getting the iPhone 11 w/ a slightly inferior chip that will gain less security updates over time.

Iphone 11 is an A13 chip, i think that will have one of the longest legs. The iPad Pro 11 2018 and 2019 have A12 chips ( also in iphone Xs) and will probably last another 3 more years. The iPad 9 is also has the A13 and will prob last another 5 years.
I just got an m1 ipad pro 11 and compared it to my 1st gen 2018 ipad pro 11 and compared them right next to each other and the m1 is barely a few miliseconds faster in normal everyday apps. Only difference is heavy processing like image or video.
