Bought a few of these from Field Supply for nearly half this price and was disappointed. The scissors struggle to cut paper and fit and finish is terrible. For sure not worth this price.

Dear Gerber :
#1 - go back to making good quality blade steel.
#2 - never, ever build a folding knife without a deep carry pocket clip.

Scissors are never worth it on multi tools. Tbh, if rather have a small plier, but none of the multi tools companies make one.

I gave this one to my father about 4 years ago. He carries it daily to remove cockleburs from his dogs. He says the scissors on it are actually useful:

So the fuselage comment is a lie. Shame on you, Gerber. I was going to use it on my dives in the Bermuda Triangle. Not any more.

My son wanted a multi tool and I got him a multi tool from the same manufacturer specifically because the scissors were actually really good. I've been impressed with it so far.

This is a good price and the Gerber is an excellent "starter" multi-tool. It's especially good for anyone prone to losing these sorts of things. But just to be clear, this is far from being a quality multi-tool. I have the armbar drive and had hoped it would replace my Leatherman Skeletool. There is no comparison. The Gerber is like a kid's toy compared to the Skeletool.

If you need something cheap, this is fine. If you're willing to spend a little more (Costco was just selling the Skeletool w/ bonus knife for $50), consider other options.

Gerber has some great designs, but their fabrication standards are pretty low. I've owned about 12 gerber products, including multitools & pocket knives. The finished quality is pretty low. My multitool had loose / dangerous tools when new. Other blades are pretty mediocre. You can tell quality control is low with poor finishing on the assembly too.

For multitools I would stick with Leatherman. And for pocketknives either invest in quality stuff from Benchmade or Spyderco. If you're on a budget, the Chinese brands like Civivi & Kizer are delivering incredible design & quality for the money.

They used to make knives to escape from an upside down ship in the ocean but it was such slow work that most people starved to death before they were able to bore through the hull.
Hopefully this aircraft tool isn't onboard a burning aircraft or one with a fuel leak.

I don't know if they're still the same quality - but I'd buy my son a Leatherman multitool. I gave my groomsmen all a Squirt for gifts 20 years ago and mine is still in top-notch shape. But... I'm half Finnish and have a genetic compulsion to buy good quality knives and have terrible cholesterol.

Check out the Paul Chen multitool if you need decent shears. My Craftsman (by GreatStar) Leatherman Micra knockoffs work okay but I would have gotten the Paul Chen if I was paying.

I disagree, the scissors on my Leatherman Wave+ are the best smaller sized scissors I have found. Very sharp for a multitool scissor. I'm pretty sure leatherman makes a smaller plier multitool as well.

Yeah I don't know how this gets Front Page unless people are just completely ignoring the FS deal, and it doesn't seem like one I want either.
